We ended 2024 on a high note, securing a Silver Sustainability Scorecard with EcoVadis, the globally trusted provider of business sustainability ratings. Thanks to the coordinated efforts of our teams across our water, waste and energy services, we showcased how our sustainability principles are embedded across all of our activities and systems. I'm proud to share that we were commended for our advanced management of environmental and ethical issues which goes to show that we are living up to our promise of delivering ecological transformation which seeks to reconcile human progress with environmental protection. By enshrining sustainability at the core of what we do at Veolia UK we can lead by example and show that economic growth and environmental protection isn’t a zero sum game. In 2025, let's aim for gold! #EcologicalTransformation #Sustainability #ESG

I often hear from corporate sustainability managers and water leaders that one of the biggest challenges in water management is setting meaningful water targets. The difficulty lies in understanding the local water risk context, addressing the unique needs of both the watershed and the site, and striking the balance between ambition and achievability. 💧 That’s why next Tuesday, we at Waterplan are hosting a #webinar on setting contextual water targets. We'll dive into what these targets are, how to set them, and walk you through real-life examples that break down the process step by step. Curious about contextual water targets and how they can drive impact in your water stewardship strategy? Register now and join us! https://hubs.la/Q02XWNq60

Veolia Australia and New Zealand Environmental Social & Governance Report is here, and there’s so much for us to be excited about! We are championing Ecological Transformation with improved stakeholder engagement, a path to Net Zero, and strong commercial growth. This means we are more tuned in, switched on, and ready to scale up than ever before. Our primary focus is being driven by the right technical solution, the appropriate commercial model, and realising new opportunities, which is also driving government conversations about the infrastructure we need to better depollute, recycle, and recover our precious natural resources. As you may have noticed, we have been speaking a lot recently about anaerobic digestion of food waste and energy recovery facilities (producing green energy) to hit Australia’s 80% landfill diversion targets. We have also opened new state of the art sorting plants across Australia, including plans for AI-enabled robotic-augmented enhancements! Keep your eyes peeled for these breakthroughs, it will draw the power of the data from the hundreds of facilities we operate globally and the millions of tonnes of recyclate sold. Veolia has the global expertise to confidently speak to regulators and to the government about the needs and policies required to make this infrastructure work effectively for all Australians. Looking ahead to the rest of the year, we are continuing to drive forward with our strategic plan #GreenUp, which is about accelerating the work that we do, and we’ll also celebrate ten years of formalising our Reconciliation Action Plan, levelling up for Indigenous peoples. This is only some of what we’ve achieved this last year and what we have to look forward to – I’m excited to share our latest #ESG report with you, which you can read here: https://lnkd.in/gNGgqJf9

As a proud supporter of the Belfast Business Promise we have been delighted to be working with Climate Essentials as part of pledge 3 to measure our environmental impact for the first time. With the increased focus on the environmental impacts of businesses we have been putting in a number of measures over the past year to try and reduce our footprint. 🌍 Introduction of energy saving lighting 🌍 Minimising food waste 🌍 Moving towards fully digital systems and reducing our paper usage 🌍 Sustainable sourcing of local suppliers where possible It was incredible to see the effect some of the measures have had as shown on the below snapshot, 99% lower than the average business for 2023, with figures being measured against businesses of a similar size to our own. Over the next year we will continue to monitor our impact and bring in measures to continue the journey for our own long term net zero target. Many thanks to Martina Colman for the generosity of her time and knowledge, it has been so valuable to work with her and gain new insights which we can pass on to all staff members. #BelfastBusinessPromise #ContinualImprovement
