I am going to participate in this years Bataan Memorial Death March (virtual) a 26.2 mile ruck/hike in honor of the Bataan Death March in World Wa 2. I did this 12 years ago in person and want to give it another go this year. I am also using this year to raise money for Team Red, White & Blue please consider donating. (Link Below) Team Red White and Blue Mission: In the military, service members push the limits of their well-being to support the mission. That selfless service posture has always been necessary because service members of every era knew they may be called to war. As they move into civilian life, many veterans carry that mission-first mindset with them, neglecting their health in the process. We believe that veterans are America’s most resilient citizens — and it’s time for more veterans to prioritize their well-being first. Team Red, White & Blue (Team RWB) exists to guide them through that journey with real-life and virtual opportunities focused on building a healthier lifestyle because a strong focus on mental and physical health is critical to ensuring veterans’ best days are ahead. https://lnkd.in/e-P2_BmR #TeamRWB #Army #Bataan #AUSA #MPRA

Did you know that less than 1% of philanthropic funding in the U.S. in the last five years went to organizations supporting military personnel and families? Boldly Go recently completed a landscape analysis focused on understanding the needs of military personnel as they transition to civilian life. Our research suggests that a holistic approach to supporting well-being is needed to help veterans and their families thrive and live fulfilling civilian lives. Funders have several notable opportunities to make an impact in the lives of veterans and their families including supporting efforts to: -Fight isolation and support connectedness among veterans -Increase awareness of available benefits and resources -Customize transition support services instead of providing a "one size fits all" approach -Support vulnerable populations such as women veterans or military children who have unique needs and challenges If you are interested in one or more of these opportunities to support military personnel and families, let's talk about how Boldly Go can support your strategy development and implementation.

While most #Veterans transition smoothly into civilian life, some face service-related challenges that expand the federal governments capacity to address. For those of us in the #VeteranSpace, the need often feels, unending. Consequently, communities, often unfamiliar with #military needs, must support these Veterans. Well intentioned people across #nonprofits, #government, and #CharitableOrganizations, assume what a Veteran needs, and often duplicate services or put resources into solving a problem that doesn't exist. At Veterans Bridge Home, collective impact, remains at the forefront of our mission. Using technology systems like Unite Us with our community partners like Mecklenburg County, North Carolina Department of Military and Veterans Affairs, and The Jeff Cohen Charitable Foundation allows for us to provide wrap around services across the social determinates of health. Even better? We can document those instances to demonstrate what #CharlotteVeterans greatest needs currently are and target our efforts on ensuring those partnerships remain strong. #VeteransBridgeHome #BeTheBridge

They should use this book at Capstone! Great work, Greg. We need more CJs in the DoD! We owe it to the kids who are reading this book to deliver a viable CJADC2 solution that enables decision advantage for commanders in the next big fight. They will be the ones that suffer if we don’t. #cjadc2
Robert Morrissey and I created Penny the Pentagon, a children's book about the Pentagon's mission, as a fun project to share with our young kids. The Pentagon and the DoD mission have been a part of our lives for over 15 years. Thanks to all of your support, we’ve been able to donate $6,000 to Navy and USMC educational charities. https://lnkd.in/ex3_QRsu As we received feedback about Penny the Pentagon, several people suggested creating a children’s book that explains CJADC2. While we didn’t initially think there would be a large audience of kids for this topic 😊, we decided it would be an interesting project. After many months, we finally finished it. Special thanks to DALL-E for the illustrations! We can’t wait to hear your feedback! We got a lot of CJADC2 inspiration from the following and many more: Chris Scrapper Matt Strohmeyer Joe OCallaghan David Spirk Shyam Sankar Madeline Zimmerman Akash J. John Waterston Justin Fanelli Alex O'Toole Cody Ferguson Alaleh Jenkins Kathleen M. David Norquist Jane Overslaugh Rathbun Alfred H. I stumbled across a Givers, Doers, & Thinkers podcast episode featuring Marcus Ruzek and a couple of the things he said regarding the military --> civilian transition really stuck out. To paraphrase: 1) Approximately 200,000 people transition out of the military every year and each one of them- regardless of their age, rank, and experience- go through nearly the exact same Transition Assistance Program. 2) The mililtary does an incredible job of taking someone off the street and training them to be a warrior. But, as Ruzek said, "nobody trained us to take the uniform off and move on." Our nation has had a standing military for more than 230 years and, even now on the heels of our longest war, government heads have yet to effectively and efficiently identify and/or support the needs of our service members and their families. And so we'll do it. The nonprofits and foundations; the givers, doers, and thinkers. It's an honor and an imperative. #GiversDoersThinkers #PhilanthropyDaily #United4MilitaryFamilies #Nonprofit

A Call To Action: Demand Your Senators Support the VETT Act (S.677) Our legislative team needs your help to pass critical veterans legislation. We won’t be successful without voices like yours reaching out to your Members of Congress. The VSO Equal Tax Treatment (VETT) Act, a bill allowing all veteran non-profits like AMVETS and the American Legion to receive tax-deductible charitable gifts, is stuck in the Senate (S.677). This bill is crucial because Congressionally Chartered Veteran non-profits cannot have more than 10 percent of non-wartime-era veterans in their membership. If they do, the IRS will no longer let AMVETS & American Legion Posts receive tax-deductible charitable gifts, like every other charitable organization in America. And we think that’s a bunch of baloney. Veteran non-profits shouldn’t be penalized for welcoming home honorably discharged Cold War Era veterans. Our Cold War Era Veterans are invaluable members of our Nation and the AMVETS family. The law is unfair to them and their service. This outdated rule must be changed. Your Senators are the key to passing the VETT Act, and your voice is needed to see this bill enacted.
