It enables two-way communication between the utility and its customers, allowing for better management of energy consumption and supply. Features of a smart grid include: 1. This enables customers to make informed decisions about their energy consumption and helps utilities to better manage supply and demand. 2. Automated distribution systems: Smart grids use automation and remote control technologies to improve the reliability and efficiency of electricity distribution. This includes automated fault detection and restoration, reducing the duration and frequency of power outages. 3. Integration of renewable energy sources: A smart grid can effectively integrate renewable energy sources, such as solar panels and wind turbines, by dynamically balancing energy generation and consumption. This helps to reduce reliance on fossil fuels and promote cleaner energy production. 4.
