The SURE Program enjoyed the support of many from its inception, but one government official stood out from the beginning and never wavered. The late Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee was an enthusiastic and steadfast supporter, lending her ear, her voice, and the esteem of her office to the SURE Program many times. Each of the hundreds of students and thousands of entrepreneurs who graduated from the SURE Program received a personalized certificate from Congresswoman Lee's office commending them on their significant achievements. She attended almost every SURE Program graduation, and when the Dakri Family endowed the Center for Economic Inclusion in 2021, Congresswoman Lee spoke to congratulate Dr. Saleha Khumawala and the hundreds of supporters who came out to celebrate the new Center. Her presence was treasured and will be dearly missed. We will miss her for her support, friendship, counsel, and most of all, her unwavering and dedicated service to her community.
I had the pleasure of being part of a cohort that felt her touch. She was truly inspirational along with the SURE program.
She was at my class graduation in 2017
Praying that the Lord comfort her family! 🙏🏾
Fantastic update!
Rest in Peace. Thank you for your service and support to the community. God bless your family and the people whose lives you have touched.
