An Eye-Opening Encounter in My Design Career Journey 🚩 I recently navigated the hiring process with a renowned apparel brand, starting with a strong endorsement from HR for my detailed CV and my standout 3D design portfolio. The initial steps were encouraging and set a positive tone. The process took a more intensive turn with a mock project - not just a task, but a comprehensive project, from initial brainstorming to the final design. It was demanding, yet it signaled to me a serious interest from their side. After a successful first interview and a detailed project submission, I was called for a second round with the CEO, heightening my anticipation. (That second interview never happened) However, the journey took an unexpected downturn. Following a week of silence and a subsequent follow-up from my side, the response was disheartening. The company stated they were not in a hurry to hire. This experience has been an eye-opener. It's one thing to engage candidates in thorough hiring processes, but it's entirely another to lead them through extensive tasks and interviews, only to end with an abrupt and vague dismissal. It reflects a lack of professional courtesy and a disregard for the candidate's time and effort. I share this story as a call for greater professionalism and respect in our industry's hiring practices. Genuinely curious. I can understand why not to put someone's full address on a resume (safety/privacy reasons?). What I don't understand is why some people don't even include city and state (e.g. Middletown, New Jersey) on their resume? If you're applying for a merchandising position that requires some days on site, the recruiter will be looking for where you live. By not including that, they will need to reach out and ask you, or skip the extra step and pass onto other resumes that provided the information upfront.
