REMEMBER THESE WORDS WHEN DEMOCRATS WIN "BIGLY" IN ROVEMBER! The United States Constitution is the supreme law of the land, the foundational document upon which the American government is built. It outlines the structure of the federal government, defines the powers of its different branches, and enshrines the fundamental rights and freedoms of the American people. However, the Constitution is more than just words on parchment. It is a living document, subject to interpretation and reinterpretation over time. The meaning of its words is not static but evolves as society changes and new challenges arise. The power to interpret the Constitution lies primarily with the judicial branch, specifically the Supreme Court. Through its rulings, the Court shapes the understanding and application of constitutional principles, impacting the lives of millions of Americans. This process of interpretation is inherently political. The justices who sit on the Court are appointed by presidents and confirmed by senators, both of whom have their own political ideologies and agendas. As a result, the Court's decisions can reflect the prevailing political winds, leading to interpretations that favor certain groups or interests over others. This dynamic is particularly troubling when it comes to the "spirit of the law." The Constitution is not just a set of rules; it embodies a set of values and aspirations. The spirit of the law is about more than just following the letter of the Constitution; it's about upholding its underlying principles of equality, justice, and liberty for all. However, when the interpretation of the Constitution is driven by political considerations, the spirit of the law can be lost. Decisions can be made that undermine fundamental rights, perpetuate inequalities, or otherwise betray the ideals upon which the nation was founded. This is unacceptable in America, a nation that prides itself on being a beacon of democracy and justice. The Constitution should be interpreted in a way that upholds its spirit, protects the rights of all Americans, and advances the cause of a more perfect union.

#politics #unitedstates The Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel is under pressure directly from Donald Trump to declare him the party’s nominee. Haley on NBC’s Meet The Press made it very clear what is going on and wants the American people, not RNC or judges in courts, to make the call, as to who the Republican nominee will be. She has a valid point. Haley wants to run in all 50 states irrespective of whether she wins South Carolina, her home state, with dignity on issues and not on personal attacks as Trump is doing against her. The man was president of the United States, Ivy League educated, and a billionaire who is trash talking McDaniel, a woman, not to support another woman Haley, but commandeer RNC funds to help him get over the many litigations he is in and crown him victor. The same behavior which got him into the litigations he is in because of his 2020 election antics in Georgia. The Democrats are only driving the Trump Republican tail deeper into a reluctant hands of the Republican dog, akin to driving Russia into China’s hands on foreign policy in Ukraine only to resume what can be an uglier Cold War and many hot wars only to lose democracy both at home and abroad, with the hope that they can reelect Joe Biden if Bill Clinton and Barack Obama, the veteran political campaigners who won four presidential elections between them, lend their voice to Biden. I suggest all three Democrat presidents covering 20 years of American presidency between them, a whole generation coming of age, move on from damage control to save their legacies and endorse a Republican, Nikki Haley, crossing party lines to save the Republican Party and the Republic. The United States Supreme Court when deciding Trump’s fate must defer to the Congress, as Haley is suggesting, for the Congress is the American people if it does its job voting its conscience as it did on January 06, 2021 to certify Biden’s election across party lines and to get Trump off the 2024 election for the January 06, 2021 insurrection for supporting Proud Boys who were convicted for insurrection. The Constitution permits the Congress by overwhelming bipartisan vote to make this happen.

This is an explanation of the current Electoral College system and an argument for keeping it instead of entertaining the concept that a pure National Popular Vote is better. Enjoy! (And, if you find it interesting, please share with a friend!)

Political Decision Criteria:... "Are you better off today than you were four years ago?" - Ronald Reagan The great communicator explained things so simply. There's no bias, slander, or embellishment here, just a simple question to guide your voting criteria. Like Mr. Reagan, I believe every legal American citizen has the right to vote and have their vote counted, just as much as mine, whether we agree or not. But this is an important question you need to answer to guide your vote.

#politics #unitedstates After the last debate before the Iowa Republican caucuses, the Republican presidential primary is now down to 1 candidate, the last woman standing: Nikki Haley, two term governor of South Carolina and U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations for Donald Trump who never lost an election and leading President Joe Biden in the polls by double digits. Why? Donald Trump had no experience in politics, similar to Vivek Ramaswamy, before getting elected president. He made a mess of America as he did with the corrupt New York real estate. We should not elect people with money and no experience in public service. Money is not the same as public service. You do not run a country like you run a corporation, as you please without regard to labor laws by executive edict because you own the corporation, machines, and people. Public servants do not own the country. The people do. In fact, what we also need in the American corporation is democracy for the United States to be a genuine democracy by having a voice and transparency in the decisions which affect people’s lives and livelihoods because everybody works somewhere for a living. Trump must endorse Haley and gracefully bow out of the nomination race.

The tactics of right wing GOP corporate fascism are at play here which includes a march towards dictatorship. In a democracy civility and civil discourse must come first, not intimidation, bullying and certainly not inflammatory death threats. Our children are learning how to bully from the extreme right which has morphed into regular normal GOP campaigns strategy, tactics and issues. Candidates and elected officials should have democracy rights to free speech without any threats or having their homes firebombed the way our home was !!! This is nothing more than an intimidation and bullying strategy. Right Wing Dictatorships start with one individual first then they aim for taking away all y’all’s rights next. https://lnkd.in/g4Ztf9s4

WILL TRUMPT BE ALLOWED TO RUN FOR PRESIDENT? American political voting is not something that outsiders can claim to easily understand. That someone can be standing trial on numerous charges that carry prison sentences is difficult to comprehend. This article seems to be fairly well balanced. Whether the great American Public will still vote for Trump remains to be seen. For the Sanctity of the American political system we can only hope that checks and balances said to be built into the system work. For the sanity of world peace we can only hope that more and more States decide Trump is not a fit person to be allowed to run for President.

Magma Is Coming by Alexandra Petri Probably, as usual, this is meaningless. You know how some people are. You cannot take anything they say literally. The speeches of Donald Trump are supposed to be surreal and unsettling. Like a Salvador Dalí painting, but with words. So I’m sure that when the former president said, “Get out and vote just this time. You won’t have to do it anymore. Four more years it will be fixed. It’ll be fine. You won’t have to vote anymore, my beautiful Christians,” and, “We’ll have it fixed so good you’re not going to have to vote,” he meant something different than what it sounded like. It sounded pretty scary and autocratic, I agree! But look, when you’re a nail, everything Donald Trump says sounds like a hammer. That doesn’t mean it is or isn’t a hammer. That just means you need to calm down. Why, off the top of my head, I can think of plenty of reasons you would say something like this and not mean that you were intending to stop elections: Trump knows that something will happen in the lives of all his listeners — nothing bad, just something that will keep them busy in 2028, when other voters will take their place. He has the gift of prophecy and foresees a horrifying cataclysm that will make voting obsolete. Not his doing! Something to do with magma. He can’t elaborate because he doesn’t want to worry you. Trump will simply not be running in four years because he knows the Constitution doesn’t permit it, so he’s indifferent to what you do then and happy to see Democrats win! This quote was simply broken up wrong during transcription. The actual sentences were, “We’ll have it fixed so good. You’re not going to have to. Vote!” He means you won’t need to vote because the country will be so free and so far from autocracy that you won’t even have to worry. He didn’t mean everyone; he just meant “my beautiful Christians”! He thinks their influence in politics is too great and wants to discourage their turnout. Hyperbole — he only meant you will have to stop voting for president. State and local elections will still take place normally. In four years, the country will be overrun with bears and it will be too dangerous to go out and vote, and Donald Trump knows about this. Voting will pick back up in 2032 once the bears have had their fun. He means nothing. No further questions! Currently this does mean exactly what it sounds like, but he is going to say “... not!” in a few weeks. He loves his jokes. He just means the totally unworrisome thing his defenders are saying he meant: that by 2028 everything will be so perfectly arranged according to conservative Christian voters’ desires that no unanswered wish could possibly compel them to the polls. By then, we will have Bibles and the Ten Commandments in every classroom, abortions and no-fault divorce nowhere, and the married, heterosexual couple as the only valid family structure. See, isn’t that so much better? Or the magma! ©️Washington Post 2024
