I always find recruitment interesting. I actually enjoy it. But what is clear is the level of dross out there. People who have only been able to hold down their longest job for three months OR they worked in McDonalds once in 2019 OR have always worked in healthcare and that somehow that means they'd be good in recycling (I mean I guess there's an element of dealing with 💩 in both?? 🤢) No one bothers to write a covering letter any longer. Neither do they attempt to re-write their personal statement to speak to the company to whom they are applying. Think "I've always wanted a nice comfortable customer facing role" 🤣🤣 And then we've got the next stage - how many of those invited to interview actually show up. On average I find about a 6:1 ratio. Anyway wish us luck! #recruitment #jobsearch #hardwork
Good luck with using Indeed,- probably the most annoying job board for most recruiters, so heaven help you employers attempting to get the best out of it. Infuriating AI driving mass market through a poorly screened portal 🤦♂️
I receive messages from recruiters everyday. They appear to know everything about me but fail to see that I am a 1 man business and don't employ anybody. Clever bunch eh ?
My daughter loaded all of her college work and work experience into AI. Then when a job is available, AI will scan it for all of the relevant data to include in her cover letter. Some people are still trying.

7moReally interesting - it seems the modern way of applying (for anything) is the mass scatter approach (apparently this is an approach taken in dating largely nowadays too). If you apply to enough places, it'll stick. Whilst that makes sense, if there is a job you actually want, you will go through the effort to write a covering letter that at least expresses particular interest in the role you are applying for - its an extra 5 mins on each application that will significantly increase the likelihood of an interview (at which point all the written stuff is irrelevant anyway as you are in an interview to prove/sell yourself at that point!). In regard to not turning up to an interview.... this baffles me entirely - why? Is it a benefits thing perhaps? If you apply and get an interview then the job centre pay out, even if you don't get it - to show that you are trying?? I do not envy you, makes me glad to be a one man show!!
