Pioneering a New Era of Negotiation Practices Designed for Reconfigurability Capabilities | Embodied Entrepreneurial Negotiation Coaching that Leverages Collective Intelligence
I really enjoyed this conversation hosted by John Vervaeke about creativity and wisdom and hope you'll have a listen and do too.
They wrapped with discussing expertise, a topic that's been on my mind.
It occurred to me that the degree of expertise, whether that knowledge is held by an individual or a community of practice, could be defined by the quality of questions asked that produced more accurate and coherent ideas about the reality of it.
What do you think?

What is it about legendary producer Rick Rubin’s interview style that makes for such compelling content?
This is a must listen.
Part of it is how chill he is. If you’ve listened to any of his interviews or read his book The Creative Act you’ll know he’s applied a Buddhist-like and meditative approach to his life and work.
But importantly, I think it’s also a function of what he hasn’t done. I can’t say this for sure but it doesn’t sound like he rigorously prepared for this interview.
For example, he asks Marc if he’d ever had experiences with VCs before becoming a VC, which is a big part of his own story as well as the catalyst for Andreessen Horowitz the firm.
This results in tons of questions and great answers that may have not been asked by “more prepared” interviewees for fear that were too basic, well covered, etc. Child’s mind.
Similarly, in my own question asking practice and at Radicle, I / we make sure to ask startup & technology experts the most basic questions in addition to those with more nuance. Who knows how they’ll answer and what can be learned from those answers and how they compare and differentiate with other experts.
Lesson for me: child’s mjnd, always be asking questions, there are no stupid questions.

I had so much fun nerding out with Rachael Bosch in this recent Fringe Chat on Perfectionism in the Workplace.
In addition to discussing our own perfectionism recovery stories (and why it's ok that they're ongoing!), Rachael and I explored the important differences between perfectionism and excellence and unpacked why the former can actually preclude our ability to achieve the latter.
We also dug into the neuroscience behind why self-criticism is effectively self-sabotage, and why self-compassion (as counterintuitive as it may sound) is actually a superpower rather than a soft and squishy self-indulgence.
Finally, we discussed the why and how of humanizing the workplace and concrete steps leaders and mentors can take to create a culture of growth mindset and psychological safety that brings out the best in their people.
Oh... and Rachael plays her singing bowl :)
Check it out via the link below and let us know what you think!

Launching a series of being in dialogue with Sophie Stephenson
I met Sophie Stephenson in 2009 when Candice Smith and I were developing Thinking Environment practitioners in Australia. Sophie, from England, lived and worked in Melbourne at that time. Subsequently, having qualified as both a Time to Think Coach and Facilitator in Australia, Sophie returned to England and went on to study with Nancy Kline and became a member of the Global Faculty of The Thinking Environment. Sophie and I share an unbounded bond from our early days of learning together. From this time, our shared love continues to deepen regarding exploratory conversations about all things Thinking Environment!
Since it is Dialogue in a Thinking Environment that we will be using to explore the various topics we engage with, we decided to launch our project with a dialogue on Dialogue!
Our inaugural video delves into the essence of Dialogue within the Thinking Environment. This aims to engage those interested in the intricacies of Thinking Environment theory and practice. This series is a result of our long-standing discussions and our desire to share the joy and depth of our conversations with a broader audience. (https://lnkd.in/dmnN-BV5)
The second video in our dialogue series is between fellow Thinking Environment Faculty member Sophie Stephenson and myself, and here we tackle the Component of Dialogue. This component of The Thinking Environment has gone through more changes of definition than any other in the 19 years I have been exploring and teaching this fascinating body of thought and work. Originally named Diversity, its name changed to Difference to combat what I call the “corporatisation” of the word diversity. For me, it is a deeply personal subject which I find can be hard to grapple with, but immensely worth the effort. (https://lnkd.in/d43_UDcB)
We invite you to watch our videos and join us in these thought-provoking dialogues on The Thinking Environment.
Can chaos theory give us new insights about how to manage complex museum builds? The answer is yes!
Thank-you to Jonathan Alger and Jon Maass for expanding my mind with this great podcast!
A huge thanks to Jonathan Alger for inviting Jon Maass to join his “Making the Museum” podcast to discuss MAASS’ work in designing and building cultural projects. These challenging endeavors invite us to Embrace (and manage) Chaos - all in the interest of creating excellent projects! Hope you enjoy the discussion as much as we did.
