Next year it will be 30 years since I started my University studies at BTH as Electrical Engineering Master. Today, I had the opportunity to visit again for the BTH event ”Öppet Hus” together with daughters and friends. The latest news and research in many fields were show cased; Software engineering, Mechanical engineering, Spacial planning; using the maker space, #Ericssonspace, AI, VR, lectures, information sessions, talking to engaged students, representatives and professors. The young group (hopefully soon university students) got information of the educations, the excellent collaboration between academia and companies along with the great opportunities they can unlock through university studies. Software enginering and research has been a really strong area at BTH for decades (ranked #1 in Europe #2 in world) - tremendously important engine in the eco system to have latest research available and new colleagues joining us at #ericssonkarlskrona Another area with a lot of focus in todays event is Marine Technology - booming in the region through investments in defense, environment and sustainable energy - planning to employ thousands within the coming years - super interesting! As a company that thrives on innovation and relies on the brightest engineering minds, it is crucial for us to inspire future engineers to explore STEM today. In July, we had the pleasure of visiting one of our long-term education partners in South Yorkshire, Doncaster UTC. With our production facility site planned to be located in Doncaster, we continue to focus on engaging with the local community and connecting with the talented individuals who may soon join our team. Each year, our team visits the UTC and hosts a helium balloon challenge. From calculating the amount of helium they will need in their balloon to create the correct bouyant lift, to working on the aircraft's propulsion system, this workshop is designed to get the students to work both theoretically and hands on in teams to create their own 'aircraft' that they can successfully operate through the obstacle course. Our team had an amazing time with the students at Doncaster UTC, witnessing their creativity and problem-solving skills firsthand. What a cool certification. Cybersecurity will continue to become more popular as counterterrorism strategies continue to develop. Further, ensuring we are optimizing the use of our EMF, quantum technology and range of other emerging technologies, we will continue to see this development. Aside from military warfare, these techbologies are used day to day such as sensors for deep learning in Tesla/Alphabet, Microwaves in homes, Cell Phones, TVs and even the recommendation systems rhat are used by big data companies such as AWS and Oracle. Today's #StudentShoutout is Samuel Olabode Afolabi, interdisciplinary engineering PhD student! Samuel's research focuses on advancing superalloys and direct energy deposition which requires collaborate with experts in materials, aerospace and mechanical engineering. He is also a member of the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE). "Being a NSBE member provides me an invaluable network of support and resources for me; it has offered mentorship opportunities and professional connections that have advanced my career." As a PhD student in multidisciplinary engineering at Texas A&M University, my experience so far has being diverse and challenging. I integrate knowledge from mechanical, materials and industrial engineering disciplines to tackle complex advanced manufacturing problems."

Industrial engineering students Lauren Cravy and Omar Torres were selected to participate in the U.S. Department of Homeland Security Summer Research Team Program this summer. The team is developing analytical solutions to produce efficient operational plans for checkpoint configurations to provide safety for passengers while minimizing their wait times during the screening process. "The most valuable aspect we learned for this research project is the integration of different analytical approaches...
