To our friends in India, happy 78th Independence Day! 🇮🇳 To celebrate this occasion, we wanted to share highlights of our first-ever podcast interview in Hindi with a very willing and knowledgeable guest, Preeti Jain from IATA. As the Head of Net Zero at the International International Air Transport Association (IATA), Preeti argues that there’s huge potential for emerging economies to develop domestic SAF industries using locally available feedstocks. Countries like India that generate massive quantities of crop residues and byproducts, could use them for producing SAF with the right policy support and investment in infrastructure. Developing these SAF value chains will aid emissions reduction, rural economic development, and improved waste management, Preeti explains. Moreover, she believes SAF can offer important energy security benefits for these countries as well. For those who would like to listen to the interview in English, it's available on all major podcast platforms: https://lnkd.in/dGeTG6jP #hindi #indianaviation #saf

Last week’s Air Quality (AQ) showed unhealthy conditions (AQ above 100) in Dambulla, Colombo, and Battaramulla (Pelawatte), while Akurana, Digana, Kurunegala, Negombo, and Ambalantota showed moderate conditions (AQI range: 51 - 100). On 17th and 18th February, the quality of the air has deteriorated in most places, and Dambulla recorded the peak value (151 AQI) on 17th February. Nuwara Eliya and Gampaha showed good AQ conditions (AQI range: 0 - 50). For the next week, the wind flow will remain north-easterly from the Southern Indian Ocean at 10-20 kmph. More polluted air with transboundary pollutants could come from the Indian subcontinent due to the wind flow.
