Pakistan contributes only 0.9% to global greenhouse gas emissions, yet it ranks as the 5th most climate-vulnerable nation. This underscores the urgency for robust climate action plans and the critical role of the private sector. To provide a roadmap emphasizing public-private partnerships to mitigate climate change, the OICCI has launched a report on August 21, 2024, titled, '𝗣𝗮𝗸𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻’𝘀 𝗖𝗹𝗶𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗖𝗿𝗼𝘀𝘀𝗿𝗼𝗮𝗱𝘀: 𝗣𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗦𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿 𝗦𝗼𝗹𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗣𝗮𝗸𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻’𝘀 𝗖𝗹𝗶𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗲𝘀.' A press briefing and discussion was held with various media representatives, who highlighted the essential role of the private sector in driving climate action and the crucial necessity of implementing thorough climate strategies. With insights from industry leaders and a focus on sustainable solutions, this report is a vital step towards a greener future for Pakistan. The report launch was preceded by an insightful session on Emerging Sustainability Challenges in Pakistan and the Way Forward by Dr. Abid Qaiyum Suleri, Executive Director of the Sustainable Development Policy Institute (SDPI) and International Advisory Committee Member of #COP29. Excellent initiative.. I don’t see much representation of OCAC here. it would have been more worthwhile to bring them onboard as no one can set the metrics to control fuel based emissions better then them.
