Access to nutritious food can be impacted by a lack of transportation and long distances between where people live and the supermarkets or grocery stores they visit. This can be detrimental in rural communities where public transportation can be limited or non-existent. In addition, corner and convenience stores may have limited or no fresh produce, meat, or dairy products, and if they do, prices are likely higher than at a full supermarket. Additional transportation challenges include sharing single vehicles or mobility issues that limit being able to drive or carry items home. #LCFB recognizes this social determinant of health and encourages neighbors to pick up food for their family members, neighbors, or friends who do not have access to reliable transportation to visit a local pantry or mobile distribution. 💬SHARE | What are other ways we can all help overcome transportation barriers for our neighbors who need access to healthy and nutritious foods? 💻Visit our blog to read more: https://ow.ly/e6Vo50Srbgt

In the fight against food insecurity, one of the biggest challenges is not just providing food—but ensuring access to healthy and nutritious options. Over 3.1 billion people worldwide are unable to afford a balanced diet. In rural and urban food deserts, people struggle to access fresh produce, whole grains, and other essentials that promote long-term health. At EETZ Rescue, we’re working to change this. Our app connects surplus food directly to nonprofits, ensuring that nutrient-rich meals—rather than processed or low-quality options—reach those in need. By bridging this gap, we not only fight hunger but also improve the health and well-being of underserved communities! #FoodInsecurity #FoodRescue #EndHunger #EETZRescue

Big ups to Paul's Law, for coming into my awareness & dropping his #plantbased #nutrition knowledge base in such a uniquely entertaining way. 🙏 I love this King so, very much & his Instagram live & #bookclub last night were straight fire.🔥 Yesterday, I watched an important #documentary on Netflix titled: "You Are what you Eat." I highly recommend it as, it's #educational and #enlightening re: the origins of how our #meats are sourced & how terribly the animals are treated just so, we can consume more of their flesh here in the #USA & get bigger & sicker.🤮 I AM a #carnivore but, there has got to be a #healthier way to source & process meats without destroying low income #communities with rancid #hog & #chicken factory #farms & the beautiful eco-system in the #Amazon. 💯 Humans, we MUST & CAN do better to demand President Joe Biden, Madame Vice President Kamala Harris, @SenateGOP , Senate Dems & our local elected officials; IMMEDIATELY pass unprecedented legislation that revolutionizes the #food & #pharmaceutical industries for our #kids & for US! Respectfully, I have NO kids but, I shouldn't CARE MORE about the overly processed foods, sugars & #drugs they are consuming than some of YOU loving parents! 💯 However, I DO care & I AM concerned about how Big Corporations market their poison to our innocent youth. ❤️ Sadly, w/our broken government's blessings.😢 #AMERICA, has an #Obesity #EPEDEMIC & what we're choosing to put on the other side of our forks & allowing our innocent KIDS, to consume is absolutely KILLING US - when it's unhealthy or inhumanely sourced! Huge win for healthy food! Our board member, Ribka Getachew, and the NYS Good Food Purchasing Program Coalition championed the Good Food NY Bill, the first of its kind statewide! This groundbreaking legislation empowers municipalities to prioritize healthy food that supports local economies, worker well-being, racial equity, and sustainability. Years of their hard work and advocacy have paid off as the New York State legislature overwhelmingly voted to pass this bill! The Good Food NY bill paves the way for public institutions to invest in food that nourishes our communities, environment, and food system. New York leads the nation with this precedent-setting policy! Victory for the Good Food NY Bill means we are closer to a more just food system. By prioritizing local economies and racial equity, this bill can create opportunities for Black agricultural and food actors to thrive and contribute to the health of our communities. We celebrate Ribka’s leadership in working toward an equitable food system for all. #goodfoodny #legislation #NY #bill #board #BFF

Yesterday, I drove by this masterpiece and had to snap a shot. The audacity that a fast food establishment has to promote using government assistance to supply unhealthy, if not slightly toxic ultra processed food to the community, as a helping hand is absurd. What the Central Valley doesn’t need is more access to EBT benefit use, they need more access to fresh and healthy foods for purchase with EBT benefits. This banner would have moved my heart in a completely different direction if this was a fresh fruit and veggie stand, however it is quite the contrary. Fresno has to start focusing on filling empty lots with small grocery stores and less corporate chain restaurants. We have a huge opportunity to build a curricular food system here locally and we are just missing the mark. Why again is this a societal norm, but an illegal fruit stand is not? Make it legal and promote the local economy already. We need to Incentivize small market owners to expand and train community members to start local food co-ops throughout the city and rural areas and stop nonsense like this from polluting our land. We are the bread basket of the world aren't we??
