Aspiring Marketing Professional | MSc Marketing | Client Servicing | Social Media Management | Public Relations | Communications
When I first started in PR, I thought my creativity and a big smile would carry me through. Boy, was I wrong! I quickly realised there's much more to PR than meets the eye. I'll never forget my first one-on-one with my manager in Mumbai, India. She gave me three pieces of advice that I carry with me even today while pursuing my career in Tech PR in London: 📧 Pick up the phone: Personal connections are invaluable in PR. Don't hide behind emails—nurture real relationships. 📧 Always do your research: Being informed sets you apart. Before making my media list or pitching a story, I spend hours researching the media landscape, publications and the journalist's interests. 📧 Creativity is great, but strategy and asking for help are just as important: While creativity is essential, having a solid strategy and relying on your team is equally crucial. One key lesson I've learned? The world is smaller than it seems, and you'll always need support. Because of her and my team, I was able to organise the launch of a new restaurant in Mumbai (My very first PR Campaign!), which was both challenging and rewarding. From coordinating with influencers to securing media coverage in tier 1 publications, I learned a ton about the ins and outs of managing an account. #PublicRelations #Marketing #Graduate #Networking #London
