Did you know that heating accounts for nearly a quarter of the UK's carbon emissions? 🔥 The UK government’s Heat and Buildings Strategy is working to decarbonise 30 million homes and commercial buildings by promoting energy-efficient upgrades like heat pumps and improved insulation. These changes won't just help the planet—they're set to create up to 240,000 green jobs by 2035 and reduce household energy bills in the long term. 🏠 Greener homes mean more comfortable living and significant savings. What’s your take on this bold step toward a sustainable future? #Sustainability #GreenHomes #CarbonEmissions

Breaking 🚨 Our new analysis finds that nearly 30 million tonnes of CO2 emitted each year could be prevented by upgrading more than 14 million homes with the worst energy efficiency ratings in England and Wales. "We cannot afford to waste a second longer in rolling out a national insulation programme – not for people facing another winter of high energy bills, and not for our climate. The new Labour government’s promised Warm Homes Plan must be a radical departure from what we’ve seen over the last decade of decline and get to the very heart of these dual crises." - Anna Roguski, Friends of the Earth https://lnkd.in/eVwGnQar Want to take action? 🌍🔋 **Carbon Intensity Update for the UK - November 25, 2024** 🔋🌍 Good news, eco-warriors! The carbon intensity levels across the UK have been mostly low today, with a slight peak in the afternoon. Here's the breakdown: 🕛 **00:00 - 14:30**: We're riding the low tide of carbon emissions all morning and early afternoon, keeping our environmental impact minimal. Actual intensity ranged from 61 to 101 gCO2/kWh. ⏰ **14:30 - 20:30**: Afternoon alert! We experienced a moderate increase with actual intensities peaking at 132 gCO2/kWh around 18:00-18:30. 🌄 **20:30 onwards**: The evening brought us back on track with actual intensity dropping back to low levels, reaching as low as 73 gCO2/kWh by late night. These variations remind us of the power usage patterns and generation sources that influence our daily carbon footprint. Remember, every choice counts! Let's keep striving for more sustainable energy practices. Stay informed, stay green! 🍃💚 #CarbonIntensity #SustainableFuture #EcoFriendlyUK

Here's us pointing to a greener future! It is the countries mission to have the entire UK housing stock insulated by the year 2050. We use renewable and biodegradable materials to insulate properties so that less energy is used on heating homes and therefore carbon emissions drop. We are one of the companies currently installing free insulation across the UK under the ECO4 and GBIS grant schemes. You can check if you're eligible for free insulation by completing a short survey on our website via the link in the bio. You can also contact us for a free assessment of your home at 0161 3274062, which will determine what you qualify for. The improvements you will likely see are lowered energy bills, a warmer home and no damp or mould (if your property suffers with it). It is obvious that all of these are beneficial, but with the taxes estimated to rise with Labours new budget, saving money on your energy bills could be very important. As much as we are helping, we urgently need yours as well. It is estimated that by 2027, earth could enter dangerous stages of global warming. Insulate your homes today. #energy #insulation #globalwarming #green #greenfuture #netzero #free #homes #home #energybills #bills #taxes #cost #greenenergy

Lower carbon emissions recorded in Bristol in 2022. 1.57m tonnes of greenhouse gases were emitted, down 7.5% from 2021. It is believed that warmer temperatures and higher bills prompted people to use less energy. The new data, external from the Department for Energy Security & Net Zero will help council bosses focus their efforts on reaching net zero in the city. https://zurl.co/86jO

When it comes to lowering greenhouse gas emissions, we cannot solely build our way to an emission free building stock - existing homes must be retrofitted. The best way to have an impact on building carbon emissions is to secure the building envelope. Read more: https://lnkd.in/guqy9f54

Every small step towards reducing carbon emissions makes a big difference. At Mitchell & Dickinson, we’re proud of the impact our insulation work has had over the past decade in helping clients reduce their environmental footprint. Since 2011, our team has insulated over 1,600 properties, with estimated total savings of nearly 100,000 tonnes of CO2, an impact equivalent to taking over 50,000 petrol cars off the road for a year or avoiding over half a billion petrol car kilometres. That’s a substantial reduction in emissions, comparable to the amount of carbon absorbed by almost 40 million trees in one year. In the past two years alone, we calculate our installations have achieved an average reduction of 2.4 tonnes of CO2 per property per year, an impressive figure considering that the average UK citizen’s annual carbon footprint is around 10.4 tonnes. Over the lifetime of our installations, that would add up to 73 tonnes of CO2 savings per property, helping clients keep their homes warmer, reduce energy bills, and contribute to a sustainable future. For homeowners, especially those in period properties, our services provide a crafted, tailored solution to improve insulation without compromising on heritage. Every installation contributes not just to comfort and lower bills but to a shared mission of environmental stewardship, showing that even historic homes can become part of the climate solution. Thank you to all our clients who’ve chosen to insulate with us; together we’re making period homes warmer and the planet a little greener. #MitchellAndDickinson #CarbonReduction #SustainableLiving #HomeInsulation #EnergyEfficiency #ClimateAction #EcoFriendly
