Interesting article around how womens leadership programmes are working but their progress is still fragile. "We need the workplace to change fundamentally, to be more supportive of women, and particularly women with traditionally marginalised identities. Hard stop. We have enumerated some of the common problems associated with women's leadership programs. Our women's leadership programs have proven to be successful and transformational because we have gone beyond the surface. Today is International Women's Day and this year's theme is Inspire Inclusion. I was inspired earlier this week when I attended Gtacc's Women in Leadership event. More than a dozen women shared their heartfelt stories to help others fill their cups. Mine was brimming by the time I left. The theme was Together We Thrive but how do we do that? By choosing our mindsets. By broadening our perspectives to be kinder, more accepting, and open to new ideas. By nurturing skills like Proactivity, Flexibility, Adaptability and Resilience. By voicing our hopes, our fears, dreams and aspirations. By being vulnerable enough to ask for help when we need it. By being there in turn for others who need support or a hand up. By listening, really listening and having value-based conversations. By showing up as your whole self. Before the end of today, take a moment and consider how you will encourage, support, empower and uplift others, especially women? And this weekend, take time for self-care. We were privileged to attend the Women's Leadership Institute conference last week. When we speak of the urgency of women’s leadership, sometimes people think it is at the disadvantage of men. However, the truth is that we firmly believe in being allies and advocates with men and that men are crucial in this process. It takes all of us to open continued opportunities, support success, and bring in voices that might not currently be represented. There is value in gender diversity. Women increase productivity, often enhance collaboration, inspire and speak up for others and build community.
