Strangely, we have almost zero qualification criteria for the Politicians, who are called Leaders, don the “Qualification” of NETAS, and take up positions from the Panchayat/Village level to the level of the PM Most of us, educated citizens, have enough background records to trace our history from the current level to our school level. Many of us are registered as Alumni Members on the various Websites of those institutions. Why do we not have such historical records for most Politicians? This post is not to make fun of the less educated Leaders, but it ponders over the reality in India─ does EDUCATION HAVE ANY VALUE? Why do Educated people fall at the feet of an Amritandamayi? What makes Ohm Sri Sri Sri a big personality, even bigger than the Nobel Laureate, Amatya Sen?

Today, we bid farewell to one of India’s greatest minds and a towering figure in its history – Dr. Manmohan Singh, former Prime Minister and an extraordinary economist, who left us at the age of 92. As someone who has spent my life in the field of education, I cannot help but reflect on how Dr. Singh's life has been an education in itself. From walking miles to attend school in his small village in Punjab to earning his Doctorate from University of Oxford, his journey embodied the transformative power of education. He often said, "Education is the key to economic and social empowerment," and his life proved it. Dr. Singh was not just an economist or a politician. He was a teacher—literally and figuratively. He began his career as a professor, sharing his knowledge at Delhi School of Economics and later at the United Nations. Even when he stepped into the corridors of power, his policy decisions reflected the meticulous precision of a scholar and the empathy of a mentor. Who can forget the economic reforms of 1991? Under his leadership as Finance Minister, India broke free from the shackles of a near-bankrupt economy to emerge as a global force. He transformed a crisis into an opportunity—a lesson every student of life and economics must hold dear. As Prime Minister, his focus on initiatives like the Right to Education Act (RTE) and the National Rural Health Mission underscored his commitment to empowering India’s youth. His belief in inclusive education and opportunity resonates deeply with my own mission to shape the next generation of learners. To my students and peers: let’s honor his legacy by committing ourselves to education—not just as a tool for personal growth, but as a vehicle for national progress. Dr. Manmohan Singh’s life teaches us that with knowledge, humility, and service, we can leave the world better than we found it. His demise is not just a loss to the nation but a moment to reflect on the values he stood for. Rest in peace, Dr. Singh. To elevate our nation, we must transform our perspective on education. It should enable critical thinking, not just be a pathway to marks and jobs. With critical thinking, our country will make the right choices, moving beyond caste, religion, and linguistic agendas in politics. However, I question if the current teaching set can achieve this, as most weren’t developed this way. Democracy can sometimes seem hopeless, appearing as a beast in its beauty. Eliminating corruption and enhancing political will are crucial for India to enact these changes. Consider what benefits our nation and ourselves in the long term. It's easy to manipulate people than inspiring them!! I see around myself in college and in society that people used to manipulate others in order to fulfill their needs. Politics is one of them. In Delhi University, it's DUSU Elections on 27th September, 2024. As per my experience and I observe everyday, most of the candidates tries to take the shortcut by manipulating students on the name of development and helping them. It's not more than a scam to us because once people win their respective posts they start to blame the system to hide their failures. I'm not here to blame anyone or criticize any political party. I'm here to share my experiences and views as a student of DU, one of the prestigious University of India. It's the dark truth that most of the people hide from us. Delhi University is know for its students, and I agree each of us has a strong stand for ourselves. While elections, people used to manipulate the students to vote them by hook-or-by crook. Though some people are really working towards the development of our college and University. It'll be unfair not to mention them. On Republic Day, a momentous occasion marking the implementation of the Constitution, let’s honour Dr B.R. Ambedkar for his contributions. He fought tirelessly against social injustice and inequality, especially for the marginalized communities, ensuring that our Constitution guarantees equal rights for every citizen, regardless of their caste or background. He believed in the power of education and encouraged everyone to learn and uplift themselves. Today every political party speaks about Dr B.R. Ambedkar and his philosophy but none wants to work on his laid footprints. On the occasion of Republic day I would like to talk about the political parties who want to fulfill the dream of Dr Ambedkar's vision, how can they do it ? Political parties speak about the constitution and it's implementation but these parties' manifestos are different from that of the constitution. Also, none of the political party's constitution is the constitution of India (except the bahujan samaj party whose party constitution is the constitution of India). How can such political parties safeguard the constitution of India?

Are we still dealing with public policy in silos or have started identifying the need of it and integrating it with our common subjects and empathize with the multidisciplinary approach? This is a good read. Do not miss. #publicpolicy
