Parenting during summer is a beast (or so I hear from my clients!) and I want to acknowledge all you parents who are trying to figure out camp scheduling, carpooling, playdates, and ways to keep your kids off screens, all while maintaining your full time job. It can't be easy. And while I can't offer to jump in and do it for you, here's what I can provide: Practical tips and tested solutions: Over the years, I've amassed a wealth of knowledge on juggling these challenges. You're not alone. There are numerous resources to tap into and I'm happy to share. - Non-judgmental support: Remember, you're doing your best and that is enough. Allow yourself some grace. We'll navigate through this summer maze together. - A listening ear: Sometimes, all you need is someone to vent to, someone who gets what you're going through. I'm that person. Transitioning from the world of digital strategy to the joyful realm of motherhood has been an incredible journey. As a digital strategist, I honed my skills in multitasking, problem-solving, and effective communication. Little did I know, these skills would seamlessly translate into my role as a self-proclaimed "professional mom". Here's how my experience in the digital arena has prepared me for the challenges and triumphs of motherhood: 1️⃣ Strategic Planning: Just like developing a digital marketing campaign, motherhood requires careful planning and foresight. From organizing daily routines to preparing for future milestones, my strategic mindset has been invaluable in navigating the complexities of parenthood. 2️⃣ Adaptability: In the ever-evolving digital landscape, adaptability is key to success. Similarly, parenthood is full of surprises and unexpected twists. My ability to adapt to new situations and embrace change has been crucial in managing the dynamic nature of motherhood. 3️⃣ Time Management: Balancing multiple projects and deadlines as a digital strategist taught me the importance of effective time management. Now, as a mom, I apply these time-management skills to juggle childcare, work goals, and personal pursuits. 4️⃣ Communication: Clear and concise communication is essential in digital strategy, whether collaborating with team members or engaging with clients. Here’s what no one tells you: Motherhood isn’t just a journey—it’s the ultimate crash course in time management, prioritization, and emotional intelligence. Before I became a mother, I thought I had control over everything. I could plan my day to the minute, and if things didn’t go as expected, I could pivot with ease. But motherhood? It’s a whole new level of multitasking and problem-solving—one that demands more than any job description ever could. Motherhood has taught me to: 1. Make quick, smart decisions with limited information. 2. Stay calm under pressure, no matter how chaotic things get. 3. Lead with empathy, understanding the needs of those around me—whether it's my team at work or my children at home. And here’s the part that often gets overlooked: These skills have made me a stronger leader in the workplace. I’ve become more adaptable, more compassionate, and more strategic about where to focus my energy. Embracing Motherhood and My Career To all the amazing mothers out there, it's time we recognize and celebrate the incredible skills and experiences that come with motherhood. It's not just a role—it's a full-time job that hones invaluable skills that are highly transferable to any professional setting. In my journey of learning, I have had to embrace motherhood as part of the process. Picture this: juggling 3 trainings (now 4) while nursing an infant and managing a toddler. There are days when I wish for 48 hours just to keep up! From battling a malfunctioning computer to attending classes amidst constant distractions, and pulling all-nighters to complete tasks—this journey has been nothing short of a growth marathon. It’s been a journey of growth and mindshift. Now, I truly understand what grit means. It's been tough, but I am tougher. Every challenge met with a reminder, "You've got this girl, keep pushing. You can do it." Motherhood is: Leadership and Management: Mastering the art of scheduling and household management makes us natural leaders and multitaskers. Communication: Ever negotiated with a toddler or teenager? That's a masterclass in communication and conflict resolution. Creativity and Problem-Solving: From creative meal planning to resolving unexpected challenges, we mothers are adept problem-solvers. Resilience and Adaptability: Adapting to new situations and thriving under pressure—mothers do it daily. Empathy and Emotional Intelligence: Supporting the emotional needs of our children translates into strong interpersonal skills and empathy in the workplace.
