Dear Mark, Thank you for your comments which I will answer with some facts that will clarify the issue. If you continue to have issues with the decision, then please let me know and we can chat directly. CILT has suffered a relentless long-term membership decline over the last two decades. Consequently the Board & SMT have made a strategic decision to focus on attracting a younger and more diverse audience, ensuring the Institute's sustainable future. To do so, we are modernising parts of the organisation that do not directly support this objective. The Golf club is one such element. This is working well and core membership is now up by x163 in the last two month alone, for the first time in over 15 yrs. Here are the actual facts; > Golf club has x87 people on the mailing list, not a single one of which are female! > Only x12 of the Golfers (16% of those listed) are paid members of CILT ! > Average age of those x12 members is 68 years old > A prime case in point, is that you yourself have also not paid for CILT Membership since 2021! Therefore, I question the tone and authenticity of your comments, given that paying members have been subsidising your golfing activity for that period. Given the above, I wonder how you expect me justify the continued costs in staff time, to administer the golf club when there is so little diversity or take up of the 7822 paying Members? My job and that of my team, is to drive CILT(UK) forward, growing it into an inclusive and diverse organisation, fit to represent the sector in 2024 and beyond. That objective is simply not demonstrated by the Golf Club's demographic, nor does the club's activity support the educational nature of CILT's charitable objects. Consequently, the need for change is clear, our aim has to be to benefit the remaining 7810 paying members, rather than the 12 that are currently involved. Best regards Paul Adams (CEO CILT UK)
