Creative Mental Health Interventions - what do we at Svaha Space mean when we say that this is the lens through which we see and deliver our therapeutic process? We work with persons going through distress as someone who's mind AND body are engaged in that distress. We actively work on employing art, movement, breath, drama, stories, poetry, music, creative expression, and imagination while we work on the issues our clients bring in. Many ask the question: do I have to be artistic to engage in this form of psychotherapy? The simple answer is, No. There is no pressure on our clients and participants to have to possess any sort of extra quality to want to engage in this way of working on ourselves. As creative arts therapists, we work with our clients' comfort levels; which means, if the client is only comfortable with sitting and talking, we sit and talk; but maybe, during that process we engage with imagination and stories. "It sounds like this is a modality only for children. Right?" Again, the simple answer is No. Tell me of a person who doesn't like a good story, or a person who doesn't imagine possibilities. Tell me of a person who doesn't have a hobby or interest where they experience joy, or a person who doesn't inherently enjoy a sense of playfulness. And when has art and creativity, ever taken away from "serious work". Often, we find that art and creativity lie within the most grounding, connecting, healing and revolutionary practices for the self and the community. We have always measured a culture's conscience and advancement by the creativity and art they engage in, and we study human development within art and creativity when it comes to the evolutionary space, and in civilizations that once stood tall. So would you respond to creativity and the arts in therapy? If you are a living, breathing being, you most definitely would. It is in your DNA. Have you ever found yourself intrigued by the mysteries of therapy, or perhaps frustrated by the misconceptions surrounding it? Yeah, me too 😔 But let me tell you, as someone who's been doing this for a while, it's high time we straightened things out. 👉 Myth 1: Only "Crazy" or Severely Disturbed People Go to Therapy You know, one of the biggest misconceptions about therapy is that it's only for people who are struggling or on the verge of a breakdown. But the truth is that therapy is for everyone. It's not just about fixing big problems; it's also about getting support for everyday challenges and striving for personal growth. 👉 Myth 2: Therapy is Only for Weak People Who Can't Handle Their Problems Alone It's a myth that therapy is for the weak. In fact, seeking therapy is a testament to your strength. It's like going to the gym for your mind, a proactive step towards a healthier mental state. After all, we don't consider people weak for wanting to be physically fit, do we? 👉 Myth 3: Therapy is Just Talking About the Past and Dwelling on Negative Emotions You might think therapy is just about digging up old wounds and wallowing in negativity, but that's not the whole story. We might explore past experiences, but we always focus on moving forward. It's about understanding how the past shapes the present and finding ways to create a brighter future. 👉 Myth 4: Therapists Sit There and Listen, Offering No Practical Solutions Ever heard the joke about therapists being glorified listeners? There's a bit of truth to it, but it's not the whole picture. Therapists listen a lot, but we also offer practical and professional tools, strategies and insights to help you tackle your challenges head-on. It's a collaborative process aimed at finding solutions that work for you. By clearing up these myths, I want to show you that therapy is something you can easily access; it's empowering, and it's pretty cool. Let's break down those barriers and start talking about mental health. Share this reel, and let's make a difference together! With warmth, Mita Your healing companion🌸 #therapymyths #therapyfacts #therapistsofinstagram #mentalhealthexpert #traumatherapist #relationshiptherapy #personaldevelopment

Are you 'geographically challenged' or 'directionally dippy'? (I am!) 🖐️ Do you, like me, need a Road Map? Or a Sat Nav? Or Google maps? Because if not you might just end up going around in circles 😵💫 Now, for us therapists and practitioners, when a client is stuck and when we are stuck with them, the ‘stuck-ness’ can actually turn into a really fruitful place. Equally, feeling stuck or feeling blank on how to go forward with a client can be unnerving. Wouldn’t it be amazing to have a Road Map that- 👍 Takes the client deep down to the root of the problem without re-traumatising the client. 👍 Far and wide so they can identify their emotional triggers and neutralise them. 👍 Rewire new patterns to arrive at the desired destination which is transformation! 🚗 The Rapid Imprint Resolution Method does all these things and more.🔥 If you are a therapist, counsellor, EFT therapist or mental health professional wanting to add a really full proof Road Map to your tool box. "𝑨𝒍𝒐𝒏𝒆 𝒘𝒆 𝒄𝒂𝒏 𝒅𝒐 𝒔𝒐 𝒍𝒊𝒕𝒕𝒍𝒆; 𝒕𝒐𝒈𝒆𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒓 𝒘𝒆 𝒄𝒂𝒏 𝒅𝒐 𝒔𝒐 𝒎𝒖𝒄𝒉." -𝐇𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐧 𝐊𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐫 Reflecting on my journey as a therapist in the mental health field, I'm prompted to ponder: Are we, as therapists, inadvertently caught up in a rat race within our own community? The essence of our work lies in collaboration and compassion, yet the current landscape often seems overshadowed by cutthroat competition. While individual growth is crucial, is it at the expense of our collective well-being as a mental health community? Here are some questions, which we could ponder on collectively- 𝐂𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐖𝐞𝐥𝐥-𝐛𝐞𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐯𝐬. 𝐈𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐝𝐮𝐚𝐥 𝐆𝐫𝐨𝐰𝐭𝐡 In our quest for excellence, let's question whether our ambitions contribute to the vitality of the mental health community or inadvertently foster a culture of cutthroat competition. 𝐑𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐬𝐜𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐀𝐮𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐭𝐲 Are certifications and workshops pursued with a genuine passion for enhancing our ability to serve, or are they influenced by external pressures that redefine our sense of success? As we pursue more clients, certifications, and workshops, it's vital to question our motivations. Is it a genuine commitment to those we serve, or have we unknowingly become participants in a race that may compromise the very essence of our calling? 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐒𝐨𝐮𝐥 𝐨𝐟 𝐂𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 Is it time to reshape the narrative, placing collaboration at the forefront? What if collective well-being became the cornerstone of our professional journey? Let's reflect on how we, as a community, can authentically connect, collaborate, and prioritize our mental health. It's not just about becoming better therapists individually but creating a resilient and supportive mental health ecosystem for all. How can we collectively redefine success in the mental health community, fostering a culture where each triumph is a shared victory, not a solitary conquest? #MentalHealthCommunity #reflectandgrow #Therapistsunited #psychology #therapist #therapyindia #counselling #psychotherapy

You've heard it before, and we'll say it again, PRIORITISE YOUR MENTAL HEALTH! Either as an individual or as part of a team, art therapy is one way to ease stress and feel alive again. With art, there's so much more benefit to it than the eyes can see. Its process has proven time and time again to be a wonderful and fun healing technique. When words become hard to say or pen down, Art is a medium of expression that can help you ease the burden. The creative process of making art can improve a person’s wellbeing including their Physical, Social and Mental Health wellbeing. The creative process involved in expressing one’s self artistically can help people resolve issues as well as develop and manage their behaviours and feelings, reduce stress, and improve self-esteem and awareness. You don’t need to be talented or an artist to receive the gain. Art Therapists at Allied Health 2U can work with you to dive into the underlying messages communicated through your art, aiding the healing process. Art therapy can achieve different things for different people. It can be used for counselling by therapists, healing, treatment, rehabilitation, psychotherapy, and in the broad sense of the term, it can be used to massage one’s inner-self in a way that may provide the individual with a deeper understanding of him or herself. Aspiring Clinical Psychologist | MSc Psychology Student at Nottingham Trent University | Mental Health Advocate
𝗧𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗽𝘆 𝗜𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗘𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆𝗼𝗻𝗲: 𝗠𝘆 𝗦𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆 𝗮𝘀 𝗮 𝗠𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵 𝗣𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗲𝗿 😊 As nerve-racking as it sounds, it can be one of the best decisions that one could make to help themselves and others around them. As a mental health practitioner, I often find myself advocating the benefits of therapy to others. Yet, when it came to my mental health, I was surprisingly reluctant to start therapy. The thought of being diagnosed with a disorder was intimidating, and despite my background in clinical psychology, I harboured doubts and fears about what the process might unveil. This internal struggle was a humbling experience and highlighted a critical truth: seeking therapy is a courageous step, regardless of one's background or knowledge. Motivated by a yearning for self-improvement, I chose to start my therapy sessions. From the very first session, I realized that my apprehensions were largely misplaced. The therapeutic environment was supportive, non-judgmental, and tailored to my unique needs. It wasn’t about labelling me with a disorder but rather about understanding my experiences, emotions, and thought patterns. Therapy provided me with invaluable insights and practical tools that I could integrate into my daily life. It became a safe space to explore my inner world, confront my fears, and develop healthier coping mechanisms. Through my own experience, I’ve come to understand that therapy is not just for those in crisis or with severe mental health issues. It’s a resource for everyone, a way to foster self-awareness, resilience, and emotional well-being. As a mental health practitioner, I now advocate even more passionately for the idea that everyone should try therapy at least once in their life. It’s a journey of self-discovery and empowerment that can profoundly enhance your quality of life. So, if you’ve ever felt hesitant or fearful about starting therapy, I encourage you to take that first step. Therapy is a gift you give to yourself, a chance to be heard, understood, and supported. It’s a powerful tool for navigating life’s challenges and embracing your true potential. Don’t let fear hold you back—embrace therapy and experience the positive impact it can have on your well-being. Navigating the complexities of therapy, especially when working with clients who have personality disorders, can be both challenging and rewarding. As mental health professionals, we often find ourselves at a crossroads: do we stick it out and continue working with the client, or do we consider referring them to another provider? In my experience, there's no one-size-fits-all answer to this question. Each case requires careful consideration and a flexible approach. While some clients may benefit from long-term therapeutic relationships, others may require specialized interventions or treatment modalities that are outside of our scope of practice. One valuable tool in our toolkit is the concept of countertransference. This refers to the feelings and reactions that arise within us as therapists in response to our clients. While countertransference can sometimes be seen as a barrier to effective therapy, it can also offer valuable insights into the client's inner world. By paying attention to our own reactions and exploring them in supervision or personal therapy, we can gain a deeper understanding of our clients and their needs. It's important to remember that therapy is a collaborative journey. Progress may not always be linear, and setbacks are a natural part of the process. As therapists, our role is to provide a safe and supportive space for our clients to explore their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. At the same time, we must also recognize our own limitations. If we find ourselves feeling overwhelmed or out of our depth, it may be time to consider referring the client to another provider who is better equipped to meet their needs. This is not a sign of failure, but rather a recognition of our commitment to providing the best possible care for our clients. Let's continue supporting one another in navigating the complexities of therapy with empathy and professionalism. Together, we can make a positive difference in the lives of those we serve💬 #TherapistInsights #MentalHealthJourney #CollaborativeTherapy #HealthyRelationships #ConflictResolution #Mindfulness #SkilledTherapist #TherapyWorks #TherapistSupport #TherapistEducation #therapistlife #findatherapist #counseling #thisloveworks

Getting into therapy is a huge and courageous decision; however, the first few sessions can be quite overwhelming. Well, opening up to a stranger can feel scary, especially for shy people. So, what can you do? Few things to talk about in the first session if you are confused: First of all, if you have difficulty opening up and expressing yourself, then you are not alone. Secondly, it is very common for people to come to therapy and be unsure about what they want to talk about and what they want to address in the first session. So, you are not alone!! In the first few sessions, the therapist will ask you questions related to your reason for coming to therapy, your expectations, your last therapy experience (if any), and the issues you are currently facing in life. And to help them know you better, you have to open up. You might find it hard to know where to start and how to begin the conversation. But you don’t have to feel pressured to share everything at once. You can start opening up slowly and steadily. Here are a few things you can talk about in the first session if you are not sure where to start. -Talk about small issues in your life; you don’t have to open up about your deep, serious issues in the first session itself. -You can talk about your present mood and how you have felt in the last few days or weeks. -Talk about your relationships; not just your romantic relationships, but all your relationships. -You can talk about the new challenges in your life that have somehow affected your mental health. -You can also talk about the observations of your family and friends regarding your behaviour. Your first therapy session can feel overwhelming, but do not let it scare you. You might have to answer a lot of questions in the first few sessions, and you may feel emotionally drained after that, but you must realize that the therapist needs to know all those things to help you better. It will take some time until you feel comfortable with your therapist, but until then, you can take advantage of the above topics to keep your therapy sessions going. #mentalhealth #therapy #therapist
