There are lots of interesting points and statistics in this piece published by edie such as..."A recent analysis found that environmental, social and governance (ESG) regulations globally have increased by 155% in the past decade, with 1,255 ESG regulations introduced worldwide since 2011...The mounting pressures created by this increase mean that many sustainability teams feel understaffed and under-resourced to treat them as anything other than compliance." Swan Energy is expert in greenhouse gas legislation and carbon reporting and delivers 100% compliance for clients and installations across the UK and Ireland. We support businesses in their drive to be more carbon conscious by helping them to comply with mandatory energy legislation. There’s been growing interest in linking the UK Emissions Trading Scheme (UK ETS) with the EU Emissions Trading System (EU ETS) following the Labour Party's recent election victory. This potential linkage would aim to enhance market liquidity and provide UK companies with greater flexibility in managing their carbon allowances. Linking the two markets could lead to a more integrated approach to emissions reduction, allowing both the UK and EU to better align their decarbonisation efforts. Some experts have highlighted that trading allowances across borders could reduce compliance costs and support climate goals in both regions. However, there are opposing views regarding this linkage. Some critics argue that aligning the two schemes could complicate the UK’s ability to set its own climate policy and may expose its market to EU regulations that could limit its independence in achieving national emissions targets. The UK Government is currently exploring the implications of this potential linkage. Overall, there’s a lot of momentum around the idea, with stakeholders keen to see how it might shape the future of carbon trading in both the UK and EU. Anyone got any strong views on this❓❓❓ #UKETS #EUETS #ETS #Carbon #Emissions #UKGovernment
