🚀 CCS 4 Krakow x CO2 Management - a Pioneer Project in Poland 🚀 Our last initiative involved the Thermal Waste Treatment Plant in Krakow with the project CCS 4 Krakow. Our role involved supporting and advising on efficient CO2 capture, transport, and sequestration, aiming to significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions and enhance operational practices. 🏭 🔧 This 12-month project, executed in collaboration with Vinco Innovation, focused on a comprehensive technical analysis and provided insights into the legal, economic, and organizational challenges. The project facilitated knowledge transfer through company visits in both Bergen and Krakow. The Eco-incinerator project underscores Krakow Communal Holding’s commitment to fostering a cleaner future. This initiative is a key component of Krakow’s solid waste management system, managing 220,000 tonnes of waste annually with advanced technology that meets BAT standards. Fortum has successfully created bio-degradable plastic from the CO2 emissions of waste incineration, a world-first at their facility in Riihimäki. 🔄Unlike traditional recycling methods, the bio-degradable plastic produced in the Carbon2x project can be used in food packaging, matching the quality of virgin plastics without the environmental toll.
