Ramboll has partnered up to consult on the new M5 Metro line in Copenhagen.   We are excited to announce that Ramboll, together with SYSTRA and Gottlieb Paludan Architects, will help The Copenhagen Metro and Greater Copenhagen Light Rail (Metroselskabet) to further develop the design of the transport system and the control centre of the new metro line.   The assignment includes technical advice on the railway infrastructure, trains and subsystems, as well as consulting on the operation and maintenance. The new D4 highway, located some 40 km south-west of Prague, was inaugurated today by the Czech Republic's Prime Minister Petr Fiala and Transport Minister Martin Kupka, in presence of Pierre Anjolras, Nicolas Notebaert and Belen Marcos. The new road – the result of the first public-private partnership involving a highway in the country – will enhance the connection between the rural region of South Bohemia and the main trade routes to Germany and Austria. The D4 partnership contract was signed in February 2021 by the Czech Republic's Ministry of Transport and VIA SALIS, the concession company encompassing VINCI Highways (lead), VINCI Concessions and Meridiam. The 28-year project entails an investment amounting to approximately €530 million. The project exemplifies the synergies between VINCI's various companies around the design, construction and management of mobility infrastructure. The works, which VINCI Construction completed in less than four years, involved building 32 km of new road and refurbishing 16 km of existing road, and employed as many as 1,600 people at peak of construction. Sweco is part of an alliance that has been contracted to provide design services in a project for the first tramway to be established in the city of Turku in Finland, including the design of 19 new stations. The value of Sweco’s part of the project is approximately EUR 6 million. The new tramway will extend for approximately 12 kilometres with 19 stops from the harbour via the city centre to the Varissuo area. The tramway will increase the capacity of Turku’s public transport, accelerate the city’s growth and support the achievement of the city’s climate goals.  “We are excited to be involved in designing the new tramway in Turku. This is a comprehensive urban development project that will impact the development of the city, and its urban region, for decades to come. The establishment of a sustainable public transport system will contribute to Turku’s goal of being carbon neutral by 2029 and, in the future, becoming one of the world’s leading cities in the climate transition and in protecting nature,” says Thomas Hietto, President of Sweco Finland. The development phase will start in April 2024 and based on a preliminary estimation, construction will take place between 2026 and 2031. Passenger traffic is expected to start in the early 2030s.
