With the ceiling height being only 2.3 metres we deployed our low headroom windowless rig to a site in London. Being able to drill with ceiling height as low as 1.9 metres using 0.5 metre samplers and rods this rig is invaluable because it can get to a position where a standard windowless rig cannot drill. This rig can still undertake spt’s, dynamic probes and Install monitoring wells. A little Thursday throwback to this slug catcher project that highlights a key point about helical piers... Great installations can be completely undone if the finishing work is fumbled. Putting helical piers in the ground is only one part of the process. It's an important part to be sure, but it ain't everything! After all, those piers in the ground need to ultimately SUPPORT something. Achieving that can involve welding, fabrication, mounting grillages or adapters, and a host of other tasks.
