Want to join a small SaaS company as the CTOs first hire? It’s the type of opportunity that doesn’t come along often, but when it does it usually presents some unique benefits... Senior Fullstack PHP Developer - £55k Bournemouth / hybrid (mostly remote) Reporting directly into the CTO here, you’ll have a strong mentor by your side to support you professionally. Plus, you’ll have the chance to build a team beneath you as the team expands, if you want. As their first technology hire, you won’t be joining a team stuck in its ways that’s resistant to change. We've all been there! Instead, your ideas around technology, best practices, workflows and general technical direction will be welcomed. Technology is the lifeblood of this operation, so the management team knows how important it is to keep you happy. As you might expect, ensuring you have a good work-life balance is priority of theirs. You’d enjoy generous holidays, a 4.5 day work week and flexibility around core hours for when life gets in the way of things. The software is pretty cool too. It’s a cloud-based platform that serves billions of requests per month for some well-known companies around the world. Within the market, they're known for leveraging the latest in AI tech and delivering powerful and elegant UI, so you’ll be building solutions you’re genuinely proud of. It's essential that you've worked with React. They use Slim for their backend framework, but Laravel/Symfony experience is fine. They’re paying up to around £55k and want someone local – someone who can be onsite in Bournemouth once every 2 weeks. Send me a private message on here or email me to hear more – c.talbot@tact-it.co.uk

After just a few months of a full-time job, I realized one thing... I can't do THIS for too long. How can I do the same thing for 8 hours a day, for the rest of my life? Simple, I can't. And so can't most of us. This is why the progress in the career is so important. Master a topic, do it for a while, and pivot a bit. I pivoted my career already 5 times. PHP WordPress developer -> Frontend Engineer -> .NET Full-stack -> NodeJS Full-stack -> Partial product owner -> Lead developer -> Tech lead Ok, it was more than 5. 😁 The best part of this? ✅ I can cover more topics. ✅ Every time I learn something new. ✅ It keeps things fresh and interesting. ✅ Employer is happy to have motivated employee. ✅ With more diverse experience comes a better salary. Embrace the change and Level UP! 🚀 A lot of times you can try the new thing even in your current role! Want to level up to Leader? Want to level up to Full-stack? Want to level up to Product Owner? What is stopping you? Identify, overcome, and progress. Believe me. It makes the 8 hours you spend in your job much more enjoyable. PS: Where do you want to level up now?

What’s everyone’s take on why companies are reluctant to hire junior developers these days? Might be just the “bubbles” that I’m in but it feels like the barrier of entry is so much higher these days. #developer #juniordeveloper #frontend

There are no places for junior front-end developers to work anymore. I took a list of 100 junior frontend developer positions, and I started to recognize similar patterns that are unfavorable to junior frontend developers. Patterns like: 🎯 The assessment task and interview questions were at a mid-senior level. 🎯 They required a range of 2–3 years of experience for the position. 🎯 The salary remained in the junior developer salary range. 🎯 The applicants were required to have mastered a backend technology or framework. Don’t worry, it’s not that the world doesn’t value developers anymore; it’s just that the introduction of AI-powered tools has changed the system of things. So how do you navigate as a junior frontend developer looking for his or her first job? You need to change the way you approach the market. Here are some tips that will work for you in 2024. 🎯 Learn a backend language alongside your frontend technologies (e.g., PHP, Python), but I highly recommend Golang or Rust in 2024. 🎯 Work smarter by leveraging AI tools and learning prompt engineering. 🎯 Build real-world projects with real-world usecases, not app clones (check out the comment section on a platform that helps you with this). 🎯 Master your JavaScript fundamentals before learning any JavaScript framework. For frontend developers to start getting different results, they need to start operating differently. Hi, my name is Henry Omofonmwan, and I put out helpful tips to make you a better frontend developer.
