#562. Find the 3rd space... to Resolve Conflicts.. If a fabulous training that I had once attended in Singapore, we were taken through a brilliant approach to Resolving Conflicts ! When faced with a conflict we often find ourselves on the opposite sides of an imaginary fence. So all that you need to do is to have the willingness to physically and metaphorically walk over to a third space From this new vantage point, just observe both yourself and the person you are in conflict with. Then ask yourself if it's possible to find a path that satisfies both of your concern and requirements. And belive you me, once you take into account all concerns you always land up at a better place. A few examples from my professional life, are as follows. 1. The Purple & Gold Cadbury Celebrations architecture emerged as we resolved the conflict between a singular identity and the need for seasonal freshness. 2. The parchment label on Captain Morgan The Original Rum, that displays the Black identity but also helps the bottle stand out in the dingy Alcobev retail. 3. The Winkin Cow product range that extends from indulgent offers to flavoured milk. Different varients for different geographies. Hence, life and in office there are always more than one version of the truth. But the truth that prevails is the one that every one agrees with.
