Our Consulting team in Woking, UK, is supporting Vantaa Energy, a Finnish energy company, on a project seeking to capture and store carbon dioxide (CO2) from its waste to energy plants. Having delivered the concept study, assessing seven CO2 storage options, the team is performing an Environmental Impact Assessment on the chosen concept design, to support the project’s progress towards FID. 𝐄𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐠𝐲 𝐈𝐧𝐧𝐨𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐦 CLOSING DATE SEPTEMBER 26, 2024 The Renewable Energy Demonstration Call aims to fund projects that advance innovative renewable heat or power generation and integration, aligning with the objectives of Canada's clean energy transition. Key objectives of the call include: ►       Increase Local Participation and Benefits: Enhance community involvement and local benefits derived from renewable energy generation and use. ►       Improve Reliability and Accessibility: Enhance the reliability and accessibility of renewable energy generation. ►       Reduce Environmental Impact: Contribute to Canada's net-zero goals by reducing environmental impacts. ►       Advance Replicable Solutions: Promote innovative renewable energy solutions that can be replicated elsewhere. The call focuses on renewable resources such as solar, wind, geothermal, and marine energy (including tidal, wave, or river current). It encourages projects starting at Technology Readiness Levels (TRLs) 6 or higher, with a minimum capacity of 100 kW electrical or 300 kW thermal. Funding requests must range from $500,000 to $4,000,000 over a maximum period of five years, starting between April 1, 2025, and March 31, 2026. Additionally, the call emphasizes support for projects that foster inclusion, diversity, equity, and accessibility (IDEA). It aims to fund at least one project led by an Indigenous applicant, recognizing the importance of Indigenous participation and leadership in advancing renewable energy initiatives. Deadline for Expression of Interest (EOI) Applications is September 26, 2024. Project Selection/Notification is summer of 2025.
