🌊 Great strides for #RenewableEnergy in Ireland! 🌱 I'm thrilled to discuss the transformative Codling Wind Park project soon to grace the Irish Sea. This monumental initiative led by Fred. Olsen Seawind and EDF Renewables aims to propel forward Ireland's climate goals. 🔍 The project targets generating up to 1,300 MW of clean energy, enough to power over one million homes in Ireland. Located off the Wicklow coast, it promises a robust connection to the Irish grid through sophisticated infrastructure at Poolbeg, Dublin. From my three decades in the Oil & Gas industry, I've witnessed the gradual, necessary shift towards sustainable energy. The detailed environmental planning that Codling Wind Park embodies, from extensive site surveys to comprehensive environmental reports, sets a benchmark for projects worldwide. 👷♂️👷♀️ On the economic front, this project is not just about green energy but also about greening our economy. It's expected to generate over 1,000 jobs during construction and sustain 75 long-term roles in operations and maintenance. Plus, a substantial €200 million Community Benefit Fund will support local projects. UK PM Starmer visited Norway to establish Green Industrial Partnership for 2025, focusing on clean energy and carbon capture. Projects include offshore wind farms and aim to power 1M homes by 2028.

We are excited to announce that Prairie Wind Farm—a key project within the North Queensland Super Hub—has received environmental approval from the Commonwealth Government under the 𝘌𝘯𝘷𝘪𝘳𝘰𝘯𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘗𝘳𝘰𝘵𝘦𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘉𝘪𝘰𝘥𝘪𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘪𝘵𝘺 𝘊𝘰𝘯𝘴𝘦𝘳𝘷𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘈𝘤𝘵 1999 (EPBC Act). This milestone marks the culmination of around four years of detailed responsible design, more than two years of rigorous environmental assessment, and ongoing stakeholder engagement. Located within the Flinders Shire, Prairie is set to generate enough clean, affordable energy to power one in every six Queensland homes and will help eliminate nearly three million tonnes of carbon emissions annually from Australia’s energy sector. Our connection with the Flinders Shire spans more than a decade, beginning with our pioneering Kennedy Energy Park. Now we’re leading the development of the North Queensland Super Hub and writing the next chapter in the region’s renewable energy journey. CS Energy is excited to be partnering with Queensland Airports Limited (QAL) on its renewable energy transition, with a 7-year deal to provide 100 per cent renewable energy to power Gold Coast and Townsville airports' operations, starting at midnight on 1 January 2025. The airports collectively service over eight million passenger journeys annually, and as the gateways to major tourist destinations known for their natural environments, QAL seeks to be environmental stewards in the regions they serve, including preserving the natural environment on a day-to-day basis. We're supporting QAL to achieve its Net Zero 2030 target by supplying energy from our offtake portfolio in regional Queensland, which will offset almost 90 percent of QAL's Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions. We are at a junction, at the advent of “free” energy, or energy abundance harvested from nature. It is comming under the banner of sustainability, renewables and climate. My question is what happens if the rich, the wealthy, the upper class harvest that energy for themselves? What happens to the gap between the rich and the poor if the rich position themselves to have access to more of the “free” energy? In my view that “free” energy could be sent to data centers for profit, in my view that gap could become insurmountable, in my view onus is upon us. The river Shannon have been selected for what’s been called; €100B of private investment to developed a wind farm via a National Floating Offshore Wind Development Agency on the river by Foynes, Co. Limerick. Will this be of similar ilk to other Public Private Partnerships? A message to the people of Éire; if I become Mayor of Limerick, we will write into procrlemation together, that any “free” energy, any renewable energy, any energy harvested from, on, or in the river Shannon goes directly to homes, communities and the Gaelteacht. 🌳

Excellent work by the Equinor Low carbon #team! We will be driving the UK’s carbon future with groundbreaking CCS projects!  NEP will develop CO₂ transport and storage infrastructure, handling up to 4 million tonnes annually, with plans to expand to 23 million tonnes by 2035. NZT Power aims to build a 742-megawatt gas-fired power plant equipped with CCS, capable of supplying electricity to approximately 1 million UK homes.
