Characterisation of #tuberculosis on Nanopore !!! Why to culture??
This week the World Health Organization consolidated its guidelines on #tuberculosis characterisation specifically highlighting three methods — including AmPORE-TB developed by Oxford Nanopore Technologies & Quadram Institute that could replace culture-based phenotypic drug susceptibility testing. In July 2023, we announced the partnership with the Quadram Institute to develop a rapid sequencing-based test (AmPORE-TB) to meet the class-based performance criteria to detect drug resistance after TB diagnosis, with the potential to guide clinical decision-making, in the future. We're pleased to share our involvement in the Eurostar’s Multichip project “Multiplex, Automated, and Rapid Laboratory Diagnostics for Autoimmune Diseases,” funded by the Service public de Wallonie and co-funded by the European Union and aimed at transferring the auto-immune antigen biomarker portfolio from D-tek immunodot sticks to Delta Diagnostics multiplex biosensing platform 🔬 At CER, our role in this project includes: -Reformulating these antigens to eliminate chemical “parasite” molecules that interfere with functionalization reactions, -Modifying the physiochemical and structural properties of the antigen to modulate their reactivity and conformation, -Performing bioconjugations with appropriate linkers While reformulation and conjugation are typically straightforward at milligram/gram quantities, this project challenged us to work at the microgram level. Thanks to the innovative procedures developed at #CERGroupe, we successfully achieved microscale reformulation and conjugation from as little as 10 µg of protein! Additionally, we've developed an assay to determine the degree of functionalization at the microscale. But the challenge doesn't stop here. We're committed to advancing our micro-functionalization platform, enhancing our techniques, and expanding our capabilities to meet the needs of future projects and applications with our partners Delta Diagnostics, D-Tek s.a. , Maastricht UMC+.
