➡️➡️ WHAT'S THE PROBLEM❓ ⬅️⬅️ 🐟 Anchor dragging poses significant risks to maritime safety and the environment. Approximately 5% of insurance claims are due to dragging anchors, and one company reports that 57% of all marine claims by value involve grounding or collisions, often caused by dragging anchors. This issue affects various vessels, from superyachts to merchant ships, and has severe consequences. For instance, dragging anchors can lead to accidents, endangering the safety of the crew and passengers. 🌱 Moreover, dragging anchors cause substantial environmental damage. About 1/3 of all damage to subsea pipelines and and subsea cables are attributed to dragging anchors, as seen in the 2021 oil spill in Huntington Beach, Los Angeles. Anchoring impacts marine ecosystems, particularly posidonia meadows, which suffer long-lasting scars from heavy anchors. These meadows can take over a century to heal, highlighting the significant environmental threat posed by improper anchoring. ⏰ Current anchoring solutions are inadequate, often providing delayed or false alarms, leaving the crew unaware of real-time anchor dragging status. This delay can result in groundings, collisions, and extensive damage to the marine environment. Despite advanced naval navigation equipment, crews cannot accurately determine if, how much, and how fast an anchor is dragging in real-time. ⚓ AnchorGuardian addresses these critical issues with a disruptive, patented technology that offers real-time, fail-safe monitoring and immediate alarms with sub-meter accuracy. By predicting anchor hold and providing precise data throughout the anchoring process, AnchorGuardian enhances safety for sailors, ships, and the sea, and minimizes environmental damage, creating a new standard in anchoring safety. #AnchorGuardian #SwissOceanTech #anchordragging #safeanchoring #superyachts #superyachtcaptain #boatcaptain #yachtcaptain #yachting #yachtlife #boating #boatlife #anchor #superyachtlife https://hubs.li/Q02C-DWp0

Promising solution for marine growth!
Exciting News! Hullbot is thrilled to be a part of the Interferry Conference in Hobart, Tasmania, from November 5th to November 7th. We're not just attending, we're on display and our CEO, Tom Loefler, is speaking in Session 12: Improving Sustainability in Existing Vessels. At Hullbot, we understand the challenges ferry operators face in meeting evolving sustainability regulations. As the world pushes for more eco-friendly practices, we're here to offer solutions that can reduce emissions, and ensure compliance with stringent bio-fouling maintenance requirements. Here's a sneak peek of our speaking session: 🌊 Session 12: Improving Sustainability in Existing Vessels With increasing regulatory demands, operators are under pressure to meet sustainability targets. While new ships with cutting-edge technologies are on the horizon, many older vessels still have plenty of life left in them. We believe in retrofitting old vessels for efficiency and extending their operational life. 🚀 Part 1: Solutions for retrofitting old vessels to give them new life. Jan-Willem Vissers of Volvo Penta will present a compelling case study on rejuvenating elderly ferry tonnage. Sander van Oosterhout, MSc PMP of Wärtsilä Marine will explore energy-saving applications for existing vessels. 💧 Part 2: Effective bio-fouling management. Trevor Tasker of EMCS Industries Ltd - Antifouling + Anticorrosion and Ashley Coutts of Biofouling Solutions Pty Ltd will share insights on proactive maintenance and bio-fouling management. And here's where we come in – Tom Loefler from Hullbot will reveal how our autonomous hull-cleaning technology can revolutionise efficiency and reduce emissions. 🎙️ Q&A: Don't miss the 15-minute Q&A session that follows! It's your chance to ask questions, share insights, and engage in discussions that could shape the future of ferry operations. We invite all ferry operators and industry professionals to join us at the Interferry Conference to explore innovative solutions and collaborate on making the maritime industry more sustainable. Let's discuss how Hullbot can help you tackle hull fouling and its associated challenges. Together, we can drive change and elevate sustainability in the maritime sector. See you in Hobart, Tasmania! 🌏⚓ #InterferryConference #Sustainability #FerryOperations #Hullbot #MaritimeInnovation #BioFoulingManagement

https://lnkd.in/djnBGqHx Did you know! I'm deeply troubled by the fact that more than 200 million liters of biocide antifoul are carelessly dumped into our sea, coating the bottoms of our boats. The repercussions of this action are heart-wrenching, as each boat alone releases around 5.6 million microplastics into the ocean every year. It's imperative that we put an end to this harmful practice and instead adopt safe, non-toxic nano technology coatings. We owe it to our precious marine ecosystem to make this change immediately. Switch to non toxic nano technology coatings. Arivo.online

What do all companies in the yachting industry have in common? 🌊 Oceans at the core of their business models. This shared basis & the consequent path forward for the industry to neutralise its environmental footprint were addressed in an enlightening conversation between our Chairman henk de vries, Executive Director Robert van Tol, and Martin Baum, Managing Director of our new corporate partner Pantaenius GmbH. Their discussion explores the industry’s endeavours for impact reduction & ocean well-being from three unique angles: Feadship's technical solutions being implemented to reduce yachting’s footprint, Pantaenius’s efforts to incentivize eco-conscious choices as an insurance provider, and Water Revolution’s programmes facilitating this transition. Scandlines' new zero direct emissions ferry Futura has now been painted. Two weeks in the floating dock of the yard, transformed Scandlines’ new emission-free Fehmarn ferry E/V Futura into a swan. The bridge and the upper part of the ship are painted white with the characteristic green stripe. In addition to the painting work, the forward thruster was also fitted during the docking, while the aft thruster, which has been in the water since the launching in November 2023, was cleaned and painted. The thrusters propel the ship through the water. E/V Futura is now back at the fitting-out quay, where she must be completely finished. All auxiliary systems must be tested, and then she will go on a sea trial, where the so-called SAT (Sea Acceptance Tests) can begin. Here, all systems of the ship are tested at full load under the supervision of the Danish Maritime Authority and Lloyd's Register. “We are very much looking forward to putting our first emission-free ferry into operation on the Puttgarden-Rødby route. Futura is an investment in the future – for us as a ferry operator in general and, not least, as an important part of meeting our goal of zero emissions operation of the Puttgarden-Route route by 2030,’ says Scandlines COO Michael Guldmann Petersen. 👉 More information and images: https://lnkd.in/e-CdPZD In Danish: https://lnkd.in/duZmxzPq In German: https://lnkd.in/duxPECJG #scandlines ⛴ #zerodirectemissions #futura
