The struggling German pharmaceuticals and agrochemicals group Bayer is to cut around 150 of its 1,000 full-time jobs in Basel, Switzerland. Bayer is known to be in crisis, the German group having cut more than 3,000 jobs worldwide since the beginning of the year. The Swiss job cuts will mainly affect the Consumer Health division, headquartered in Basel, and should be completed by 2025.

An ethical problem of marketing authorizations: my recent scientific article In order to put a drug on the market, clinical trials are required which culminate in a large so-called phase 3 trial. This requires the recruitment of hundreds of thousands of patients who receive the treatment or a double-blind placebo. There must be a statistically significant difference between treated and placebo on 1 criterion called the main criterion, which implies that the majority of treated patients respond to the treatment. However, in complex syndromes such as autism, this is virtually impossible due to the heterogeneity of the syndrome and clinical symptoms. In addition, it happens that so-called secondary criteria - subsets of clinical criteria - are positive but not the main criterion which is the average of numerous parameters. Thus, autism evaluation criteria such as SRS or CARs include dozens of sub-criteria. As a result, pharmaceutical companies will first identify responders before embarking on very expensive phase 3. Finally, in any case this approach does not respond to the situation in which which treatment reduces the severity of the syndrome more importantly ignores the % of patients for whom this treatment is efficient? This article examines this question by taking autism as an example https://lnkd.in/eQ5SdH-g www.ben-ari.fr

These days, before going to bed, I have been recalling some of my past work, especially pharmaceutical consulting. After sorting out the work I have done, I suddenly feel that there are not many people in the United States who are better than me! After all, I have an MD, and three years of scientific research training in the School of Public Health. The ability of academic consulting in medicine has a solid foundation. Because after summarizing, I found that I have worked on products for so many companies. Of course, many people will doubt: Why didn’t you become a big boss? Haha, of course I was envied. After all, my work ability and academic background were not comparable to the academic managers of basically all pharmaceutical companies in China at that time, and they were afraid that I would take their positions. Although I haven’t touched this field of work for a long time, even if I want to pick up pharmaceutical consulting again now, there won’t be many people who are better than me. After all, I have worked on products for ten global pharmaceutical companies, including advertising design, promotion and publicity, from AD to PPT, I did it all by myself, and I have read more than 10,000 clinical SCI papers. Otherwise, if my level is poor, I would not have the inspiration to create the network technology platform SCISOON-NAVIGATOR.

Background: The objective of this study was to propose a model for examining the impact of inward internationalization on outward internationalization in Iranian pharmaceutical companies by focusing on organizational capabilities. Methods: Qualitative research was employed, and the grounded theory approach was utilized for data analysis. The study involved conducting interviews with 16 individuals who possessed experience in international activities within the pharmaceutical sector and expertise, using the snowball sampling method. The data gathered from the interviews underwent open, axial, and selective coding analyses, resulting in the development of a paradigm model of internationalization within the pharmaceutical industry. The paradigm model is composed of causal conditions, background conditions, intervening conditions, central phenomena, strategies, and consequences. Results: The research findings indicated that causal factors of internationalization encompass learning from other countries, updating medical and technical knowledge, expanding activities beyond domestic markets, facilitating production quality improvement, and promoting growth within the pharmaceutical industry. Strategies for internationalization include adopting an international perspective, implementing effective macro-level policies, utilizing long-term strategies, enhancing workforce professional capabilities through training, improving standards and documentation, devising strategies for rational budget utilization, planning for optimal capacity utilization, and strengthening international communication and political relationships. Conclusion: Ultimately, the consequences of inward internationalization and the enhancement of organizational capabilities lead to outward internationalization and a favorable position within the global pharmaceutical industry, improvements in organizational capabilities and international relations, development of cross-border business, economic prosperity within the pharmaceutical industry, and heightened commitment to foreign markets. #InwardInternationalization #OutwardInternationalization #GroundedTheory #OrganizationalCapabilities
