In the latest episode of our Inside Geneva podcast, host Imogen Foulkes speaks with human rights defender Fereshta Abbasi about life in Afghanistan following the Taliban's takeover three years ago. Abbasi recalls the fear she and other women felt when the Taliban retook control of Afghanistan, knowing this would lead to even greater repression of women. “No matter what we have done in the past three years, we haven’t been able to reverse a single decree of the Taliban that is restricting women’s rights,” she says. So, how can we help the women of Afghanistan? Listen to our podcast to find out. 🎧Apple Podcasts: https://lnkd.in/e5NDN89Q 🎧Spotify: https://lnkd.in/eRidXmYj

Freelance journalist with bylines in RSI Cultura (Italian) and Stylezza Magazine (English), contributor for Radio Nizza and Cannes Radio
Welcome to What Katie Did, a podcast where I will be discussing real life issues affecting us women everywhere in the world. My first series touches upon harassment, both online and in the workplace. I am looking at a specific category of women, namely journalists, to find out what type of harassment they experienced in their careers and why they think that is. From Italian freelance war journalist, Benedetta Argentieri to the BBC 1’s Countryfile presenter, Charlotte Smith, all these women journalists are discussing what they have been through and what, in their opinion, could be done to protect other women from being harassed. https://lnkd.in/g-Vw-EDy

“Bullshitters: who are they and what do we know about their lives?” is the unlikely title of an academic study that proves that teenage boys are far more likely than teenage girls to pretend to understand mathematical concepts that don’t even exist! This disproportionate male overconfidence continues into adulthood too. In this New Statesman podcast, we discuss overconfidence in politics and its disastrous consequences. For instance, another study finds that countries led by women saw 40 per cent fewer deaths from Covid in the pandemic, even controlling for the different cultures of the nations concerned. We also talk about the double standards we use when judging female leaders compared to male ones. And about the fatal consequences of senior Israeli men not listening to the female intelligence officers and border spotters who predicted the October 7 Hamas attacks. This tragic example of the authority gap has led to the loss of tens of thousands of lives. Check out this fresh New Statesmen podcast on the double standard related to confidence of men and confidence of women - and how it impacts us all. Lots to engage with in the comments, too. Where do you stand on this? #confidence #authoritygap #womeninpower #womeninbusiness

The first 20 seconds of this discussion are enough to really provoke thought and deep reflection around our own ingrained stereotypes. It's an excellent dive into the invisible barriers that women face inside and outside the workplace. I'm definitely guilty of bias. Thanks to Mary Ann Sieghart for spotlighting the authority gap, and Zubaida Bai for sharing this post. #WomenInLeadership #GenderEquality

CEO of Fraser Communications, one of the largest female-owned and led integrated advertising agencies in Southern California.
In conflict zones like Afghanistan, South Sudan, and Nigeria, daily life comes with unimaginable challenges, especially for women. However, some extraordinary women have managed to not only navigate these hardships but also flourish as entrepreneurs, creating businesses that nurture their families and communities. How do women manage to run businesses in some of the world's toughest areas? I had the honor of speaking with Laurie Adams, CEO of Women for Women International, on my radio show, "Why Women," about this topic. Learn about their inspiring stories by tuning into the episode. https://lnkd.in/guz8ZBkp

A #podcast all #developmentpractitioners should listen to... my recommendation #podrec today comes from Development Initiatives. Despite being recorded a couple of years ago the issues remain relevant & thought-provoking with a focus on #participation in producing and disseminating #gender-related data in different contexts (Africa and global). Three excellent, articulate and insightful advocates sharing NB views including around improvements in generating data but backsliding on #genderequity itself in many situations. What do you think? #globaldev #comd5000 #SDG5 #genderequality #data4all https://lnkd.in/g64d_zBK

Thoroughly good to listen to this podcast. Most people are bewildered by the whole trans thing. We scratch our heads and wonder where it came from. How on earth did it become controversial to say that women don't have a penis? When has it ever been fair for men to compete in women's sports? Why should a man who wears a dress be allowed to enter women's changing areas? Well done, Kellie Jay Keen, for highlighting why the pronoun game is insidious and a wolf trapped in sheep's clothing. And why there is a deeper and more sinister reason for men pretending they are women. Grown adults can do what they please. Chop bits off. Add bits. Wear what you feel comfortable in. Have sex with whomever you choose. I don't care. Please don't ask me to play along with your games, though. I'm not doing it. I value my mother, my wife, and my daughters too much. I will call out this nonsense where I see it. Men can be evil bastards, and they will often masquerade as harmless fools to get near to those they pose a danger to (Catholics Priests). Laws are there to protect women and children from the minority of dangerous men. But denying the difference between men and women can only lead to more girls and women being harmed, abused, and disadvantaged by actual men. Remember how we got so bored with the England football team taking the knee? I feel the same about seeing a grown-ass man putting He/Him on his Linkedin bio. We know you're a bloke Geoff. You've fathered three kids, have a wife, wear a full beard, and play 5-aside football every Tuesday night in a men's league. He/Him. Don't play the game. https://lnkd.in/eJfdc3gU
