Swiss hotel industry reflects on a successful winter season: The Swiss hotel industry enjoyed a successful winter season, according to a survey conducted by the industry association @Hotelleriesuisse. Nearly half of the accommodations reported an increase in turnover compared to the previous year, Hotelleriesuisse announced on Sunday. The record 2022-2023 season was once again surpassed in the recent winter season, Hotelleriesuisse stated. According to the survey, a quarter of establishments recorded lower turnover, particularly urban hotels and hostels. These urban accommodations were less satisfied with the winter season than those in Alpine regions. This could be due to the increase in rooms and beds in available in urban areas, which led to a decline in occupancy rates despite a record number of overnight stays. According to the survey, businesses also expected positive figures overall for summer 2024. Here too, however, the forecasts in urban areas are more subdued. According to the survey, prices for overnight hotel stays will also rise in 2024.

"Hotel metric performance in the first quarter was softer for some companies due to tough year-over-year comparisons, unfavorable weather patterns in ski-focused and wine country markets, and more inexpensive flights to Mexico and the Caribbean. However, executives are encouraged by the demand outlook for the remainder of the year." #hotelindustry #hotels #hospitality #hospitalityindustry #hoteliers #hotelsandresorts #dshhoteladvisors https://lnkd.in/eEVqRjXZ

"The week of July 21-27 marks the turning point of the summer season, with U.S. hotel occupancy falling after last week’s annual peak. What if the secret ingredient to a five-star hotel experience isn't luxury, but something much more human? 🤔 💡 It’s easy to overlook the essence that transforms a hotel stay from good to unforgettable: the human touch. Teaching courses such as "Experience Design" and "Experience & Transformative Economies" at Haaga-Helia University of Applied Sciences, has raised the importance of designing and managing experiences as they provide a unique competitive advantage in the field of hospitality. 👋 Here's a thought: Imagine walking into a hotel lobby and being welcomed with a scripted greeting and warmth that wraps around you like a cozy blanket on a chilly evening. It's in the way the concierge lights up as they share their hidden city gems, not found in any guidebook, or how the restaurant staff remembers your love for extra foam on your cappuccino, making you feel like family. ✍ Consider for a moment a story of a successful guest experience moment. A guest found a heartwarming note from the housekeeping staff in her hotel room on her birthday. The note wished her a happy birthday and shared a personal connection over a mutual love for a book series. Although a small gesture, it transformed the guest's hotel room in an unfamiliar city into a cozy and familiar space. Building connections between locals and guests. 🤹♂️ Research supports this story, showing that hotels that prioritize genuine human interactions see a visible boost in guest satisfaction scores. They often outperform their competitors, who invest heavily in technology and luxury amenities. Guests don't remember the plushness of their pillows or the view from their windows but the human moments they experience. 👉 Let's remember the power of human connection. The next time you find yourself in a hotel, anywhere in the world, remember: the most memorable experiences come from the heart, from the genuine smiles, the heartfelt conversations, and the small acts of kindness. 😊 One smile, one conversation, one memorable moment at a time. What will your story be? Share in the comments how a simple human touch transformed your stay and inspired you to see hotels not just as places to sleep, but as homes away from home. Or even better - why not share it on one of our lectures 😉 reach out and let's make it happen and inspire our students with a real-life example! #hospitality #humantouch #guestexperience #hotelgrowth #whynot #hotelmanagement #haagahelia #education
