https://lnkd.in/dKmRYt84 My latest piece was just published by FratelloWatches. It features a battle between two of Patek Philippe's references (6119G vs 5212A). Similar in some ways (price, proportions, same line), different in others (case metal, movement, aesthetic approach) made for a very interesting comparison. Give the article a read if you have 5 minutes, or drop a vote in the poll at the bottom of the article for which references you prefer from the two presented! #patekphilippe #fratellowatches

𝗥𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗪𝗮𝘁𝗰𝗵𝗲𝘀: 𝗧𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗟𝘂𝘅𝘂𝗿𝘆 Rare watches are much more than simple time-measuring instruments; they are true works of art, symbols of prestige and witnesses to a history rich in innovation and know-how. These exceptional timepieces, often produced in limited editions, attract collectors and enthusiasts from all over the world, fascinated by their rarity, beauty and technical complexity. 𝗖𝗿𝗮𝗳𝘁𝘀𝗺𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗶𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 Each rare watch is the fruit of meticulous craftsmanship and constant innovation. Swiss watchmakers, undisputed masters of fine watchmaking, devote thousands of hours to the design and assembly of each piece. Iconic brands such as Patek Philippe, Audemars Piguet and Vacheron Constantin stand out for their ability to marry tradition and modernity, producing timepieces that defy the limits of precision and aesthetics. 𝗘𝘅𝗰𝗲𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗹𝘀 Rare watches are often made from precious and exotic materials. Gold, platinum, diamonds and precious stones adorn these pieces, adding an unparalleled dimension of luxury. Some watches even incorporate less conventional materials such as meteorites, high-tech ceramics or titanium, demonstrating boundless boldness and creativity in their design. 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗦𝗼𝗽𝗵𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗠𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗶𝘀𝗺𝘀 What really sets rare watches apart are their horological complications. Complications are additional functions to the time display, such as moon phases, minute repeaters, chronographs and perpetual calendars. The complexity of these mechanisms is such that only the most experienced and talented watchmakers can master them. For example, the Patek Philippe Grandmaster Chime, with its 20 complications, is a masterpiece of horological engineering. 𝗘𝗺𝗼𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗴𝗲 Owning a rare watch is also owning a piece of history and heritage. Each watch tells a story, that of its creator, its era and its previous owners. For collectors, acquiring such a timepiece is an emotional adventure, a way of connecting with a centuries-old tradition and perpetuating a legacy. In conclusion, rare watches represent excellence in watchmaking, where high-precision craftsmanship meets luxury and innovation. They captivate the imagination of enthusiasts and collectors alike, offering much more than a simple measure of time: they are timeless witnesses to an unceasing quest for perfection and beauty. #raretimepieces #watchcollectors #cartiercrash

Today, and since a couple of months actually, 1970's dress-watches are a big thing in the watch world, even pushing the big boy Pateks into the background. However, this was not always the case 🤔 We've been big fans of brands such as Piaget, Chopard, and Cartier way before the hype, and were offering these style of watches since the start of WatchWorks back in 2016. Below is another one of our articles on why we feel so strongly about these magnificent dress-watches from the seventies 😍 https://lnkd.in/eXYav2hY #piaget #vintagewatches #dresswatch #vintagepiaget

The Patek Philippe reference 3633 in 18k white gold with its original onyx dial is a great example of an elusive, yet under the radar watch. From the 70s-80s, brands such as Patek, Audemars Piguet, Vacheron Constantin, and of course Piaget have been experimenting with alternative stone materials, gold, and different designs. This era for watchmaking was arguably one of the biggest cultural changes and watch taste for the consumer public. Of course, dress watches and complications were still being produced and worn, but this “new, edgy” style of watches, even coming from Patek, a historically stiff brand when it comes to change, hasn’t been done before. It’s refreshing to see an infinite palette of bracelet and dial designs from big brands. After the 90s-2000s, alot of integrated allure stopped as it wasn’t in style much any more. We’re seeing collectors and the mainstream watch market rediscover the integrated watch design again. It’s the Wild West for vintage watches now in terms of experimenting and exploration and we’re here for it! #watches #luxury #patek #patekphilippe #tiffany #gold #jewelry #business #innovation #history #cartier #rolex #vintage #vintagewatch #investment https://lnkd.in/gSU3Uvvp

Many people first approaching the field of vintage watches aren’t sure where to start. Even if you have a boatload of money, getting a Rolex “Paul Newman” Daytona out of the gate might not be the best foray into the space. Eric Wind compares it to someone buying their first painting and it being a Picasso; it would no’t really give you a proper understanding appreciation of the field. The list below contains 10 watches - some more general and some specific - that you should definitely know. If you are an aficionado, you may recognize most of these. If you are exploring vintage watches, this is a great place to start and hopefully will save you some time. Many of these are models I proactively hunt for clients, friends, and in some instances myself!

3 Watch Collection: Ceramic Edition If you’re not into the simplicity of steel or if you find gold a bit gaudy, perhaps you’ll find certainty in ceramic. Let’s dream a lightweight dream of the perfect, all-ceramic 3-watch collection. Omega Seamaster 300M Black (Sport watch) - This $9,500 piece gets a lot of hate for being hard to read but let’s get real - if you’re doing ceramic properly, you’re doing it in black and as this watch’s title suggests, it doesn’t get more black than… well, black black. Oh, and it just so happens to be virtually unbreakable, by man or water. Bulgari Octo Finissimo Ceramic (Dress watch) - Thin enough to slide under any sleeve and sleek enough to catch any eye, this $18,200 Bulgari is a fully ceramic take on the beloved Octo Finissimo. 1 color, 3 hands, and a sub-seconds dial make this watch minimal enough to blend in anywhere unless there are discerning eyes around… Tudor Black Bay Ceramic (Everyday watch) - Sure, I could’ve chosen a $300K Royal Oak to close out this list but where’s the challenge in that? Instead, I’ve opted for Tudor’s humble Black Bay, a $5,000 workhorse that is as attractive to look at as it is comfortable to wear. This industry-favorite just screams ‘wear me’ in a very modest way. Total Collection Cost (USD): $32,700
