PSA is particularly soul-destroying, as it’s often invisible to everyone around the victim - yet has long-lasting implications on every aspect of a victims life, as well as their children. In UK Coercive Control update to Statutory Guidance states: ‘Abuse perpetuated against a victim, is also perpetuated against their child too’ - you cannot be abusing the mother of your children, whilst claiming to be an amazing Father! You are depriving your children of a happy, healthy, prosperous home life and future. DomesticShelters.org: “When domestic abuse victims leave a relationship, we assume they are safe. However, 90% of coercive control victims report experiencing post-separation abuse (PSA). Post-separation abuse often harms domestic abuse victims for years or decades after separation. Researchers and scholars have described several forms of post-separation abuse (PSA), with a variety of terms used to describe different categories. When directed at targets who are parents, these tactics also harm children directly and indirectly.” https://lnkd.in/dbYJrrHv #DomesticViolence #Abuse #domesticabuseawareness Phoenix Rising - Still I Rise 🔥🔥🔥

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Domestic violence, also known as intimate partner violence, can happen to anyone, regardless of age, gender, race, sexual orientation, economic status, branch of service, or rank, and has lasting negative health impacts. Those experiencing domestic violence may be reluctant to discuss their circumstances due to fear of retaliation, judgment by others, or embarrassment. They may feel trapped, anxious, or even blame themselves. Regardless of what the abuser may say to maintain control or exert power, victims of domestic violence are never at fault for their partner's behavior, and no one deserves to be abused. Recognizing the signs of domestic violence and knowing the available support resources can be lifesaving for you or someone you know. No one, especially the members of our #OneGuard family, should ever have to endure domestic violence or abuse. A recent Aljazeera article shares her journey, advocating for a shift in the way society, and legal systems, view and document these tragedies. Intervention and support are necessary when someone may be experiencing domestic violence. Domestic violence does not get better on its own, in fact, it usually escalates without intervention. The Domestic Violence Death Review Team (DVDRT) has been reviewing fatal cases of domestic violence since 1993. You can read more about their work and their recommendations for survivors, their friends and families in their newest report: https://lnkd.in/gE4A53Bv
