Thank you to Fox News TV for having us on the show to discuss the PACT ACT expansion of care. This is a great benefit but we have a long way to go. We need a toxic exposures specialized healthcare pathway for those presenting with deployment related respiratory disease and other illnesses. We need it to be similar to the World Trade Center health care program. We need more than a pact act screening questionnaire. Beginning March 5, 2024, VA is making all Veterans exposed to toxins while serving our country are eligible to enroll directly in VA health care without first applying for VA benefits. This expansion of care means that all Veterans who served in the Vietnam War, the Gulf War, Iraq,Afghanistan, the Global War on Terror, or any other combat zone after 9/11 will be eligible to enroll directly in VA health care without first applying for VA benefits. Additionally, Veterans who never deployed but were exposed to toxins or hazards while training or on active duty in the United States will also be eligible to enroll. #pactact #burnpits #burnpits360 #cancers #lunghealth #4d

Our latest blog “Of Burn Pits, a Registry and the PACT Act: Righting a wrong with expanded benefits to U.S. veterans” is an exploration of the PACT Act that expands Veterans Administration healthcare benefits for U.S. military veterans and is one of a series of regular informational blogs relative to the field of senior care. https://lnkd.in/eSf9q4aR To qualify for benefits from the Open Burn Pit Registry, veterans must have served in a location where burn pits were used. Additionally, veterans must have a service-related illness or injury associated with their exposure to burn pits. These conditions can include respiratory problems, skin conditions, and other chronic illnesses that are associated with the airborne hazards of burn pits. Our Blog Series provides valuable insights and actionable strategies for healthcare providers, doctors, nurses, estate planning attorneys, and anyone involved in senior care. Dear Steve, Last week marked a significant milestone: the 10-year anniversary of the Phoenix VA scandal, in which at least 40 veterans died while waiting for care because the VA lied about wait times. A decade past this heart-wrenching scandal, many veterans continue to face challenges in accessing quality and timely care—not only in Phoenix but across the entire country. According to recent data from the VA, wait times for primary care and mental health appointments still exceed the recommended guidelines, ranging from 20 to 59 days and 45 to 105 days, respectively. It’s an ongoing struggle our veterans endure to obtain the healthcare we were promised and deserve. Last week, CVA hosted press conferences in Phoenix and in Washington, D.C. to commemorate this solemn anniversary and demand legislative solutions to improve veterans' access to community care. Several news outlets covered these events: DC News Now highlighted the solemn milestone and the persistent challenges faced by veterans in accessing timely medical care. https://lnkd.in/gDEtdWfT Fox 5 DC reported on Senator Marsha Blackburn's sponsorship of the Veteran Health Care Reform Act, which aims to give all veterans "full choice,” the ability to use their health benefits either at the VA or community care providers, without needing VA preapproval. https://lnkd.in/g6_-w5js ABC 15 Arizona and 12 News echoed the sentiments of our veteran advocates, who are demanding immediate action from Congress and the Department of Veterans Affairs to address systemic failures. https://lnkd.in/gBV4sCbj AZ Family and Arizona PBS revisited the whistleblower revelations from 2014, emphasizing the enduring nature of the issues highlighted by the Phoenix VA scandal. https://lnkd.in/gVVB5kUY As we reflect on this anniversary, let us not tire from this fight. Through these events and remembering, we recommit ourselves to supporting our nation's veterans and advocating for meaningful reforms in our VA health care system. Together, we can honor the memory of those we lost by ensuring that every veteran receives the timely and quality care they deserve.
