Now I wait for approval. IF APPROVED…Research begins January 2025 and graduation December 2025. Thank you to my wonderful family, my amazing friends, my colleagues, my cohort and the local agencies who agreed to support my research project. Many of you have asked what my research is based on. The purpose of this study is to provide meaningful solutions that enhance caregivers' abilities to manage their roles effectively while maintaining their own well-being. Specifically, the research will explore the tools and resources caregivers need, including coping mechanisms, increased understanding of their child’s diagnosis, and opportunities to connect with peer support networks. By addressing these areas, the study aims to empower caregivers, improve their quality of life, and foster healthier family dynamics, ultimately contributing to better outcomes for both children and their families. A new piece of research I’ve contributed to has recently been published! This paper talks through the design process and preliminary results of a co-produced virtual reality intervention, aimed at helping adults with intellectual disabilities access healthcare. We show that virtual reality can be used to reduce anticipatory anxiety about attending a healthcare appointment and to increase tolerance of some medical investigations and treatments.
