A career secret that took me years to realize. I often DON'T recognize success when I'm in the middle of it. THAT is the short version if you get nothing else out of this. During my stressful job search in 2020 I had time to document things I had done for various businesses. As I documented business growth and transformation stories I got a lot of clarity by looking back. But interestingly, DURING those earlier times when I was driving the change I didn't "feel" successful. I didn't see the success as clearly as when I looked back later. Perseverance and a positive mindset in our careers can come from recognizing we have to keep going because clarity comes at the end- not in the messy middle. I've learned if I make the best decisions possible and work hard, I will look back and see success even if in the moment it is chaotic and exhausting. It helps knowing success will come later even if things are messy in the "now".
