The Lake Sabrina Auxiliary Spillway Improvement project comprised replacing the existing spillway slab and constructing a new reinforced concrete retaining wall along the side of the main spillway.  The new reinforced concrete slab was placed over compacted soil and a slurry base with riprap and a curb to direct surface runoff. Prior to the demolition of any existing structures, such as the auxiliary spillway slab and wall, the contractor performed potholing to confirm that there was no flowing/standing water within areas that could affect the work and safety. Partnering with our concrete supplier, pump company, and admixture company, Syblon Reid pumped approximately 300 cubic yards of concrete over 1,000 feet due to limited access for trucks into the work site.
