https://lnkd.in/gnf3T2cA An Ossifying fibroma is a rare benign fibro-osseous neoplasm of the mandible or maxilla, it is characterized by substitution of normal bone by fibrous tissues and newly formed calcified products such as bone, cementum or both. Our 18 year old patient, first noticed swelling in the left face. This slow-growing tumors was painless and asymptomatic, but she gradually developed displaced teeth and root resorption. Unfortunately, her dentist referred her to a local Children’s Hospital instead on an OMS, she was seen by a few pediatric plastic surgeons which recommended a marginal resection, and immediate reconstruction with an anterior iliac crest bone graft, which was placed intraorally. This resulted in loss of the entire bone graft and dehiscence of the plate. A resultant FAMM flap was used to cover the plate. She was referred to me for definitive reconstruction, I removed the ill fitting plate and necrotic bone, and placed a well adapted plate. After six months, we proceeded with extraoral placement of dental implants with allograft and bone morphogenic protein to complete the tentpole procedure. This was first described by Marx to complete the bone and tissue engineering triangle.
