Tokenization – Omnibus – Poker The efficiencies self-evident (reduction in errors, faster clearing, etc.), the cost savings astronomical (middle and back offices could be reduced by 80% easily)…  Why then has blockchain and specifically TOKENIZATION been resisted by Wall Street? BECAUSE the “sacred cow” – CUSTODY, would be impacted or scrutinized. As this format short, lets focus on the OMNIBUS ACCOUNT: An omnibus account is a financial account structure commonly used in the securities industry to streamline and simplify the management of multiple client accounts, typically for trading and administrative purposes. What important detail overlooked by many in this scenario?  OWNERSHIP The investment firm or financial institution that manages the omnibus account is the legal owner of the assets within the account. This means that the assets are registered in the name of the firm itself, not in the name of individual clients or funds. (this concept: LEGAL OWNERSHIP) While the legal ownership of the assets resides with the investment firm, the BENEFICIAL OWNERSHIP belongs to the individual clients or funds whose assets are aggregated within the omnibus account. Beneficial ownership means that these clients or funds have the rights to the asset's value but not the privileges directly or indirectly the assets are endowed with (to many to detail here)… Privileges that equate to POWER not just a few trivial coins.
