Our strides against homelessness 🚶 We’re wrapping up National Homelessness Week, our hearts filled with gratitude and pride. From August 6 to 13, our Symal team members from all over, even as far as Manila, came together to step up for an incredible cause. With a goal of 122,000 steps per team, recognising the number of Australians who experience homelessness each day, everyone went above and beyond! Together, we logged an incredible 6,811,135 steps, that's 4,500km. We could have walked a full lap visiting ALL our offices Australia wide! We are proud to be donating $5000 to Mission Australia's Step for Safe Homes initiative, highlighting our dedication and the spirit of our team, helping to provide safe and secure homes for disadvantaged Australians. This week has been a powerful reminder that when we come together, we have the strength to create meaningful change. If you’re feeling inspired to contribute, remember that every step counts. Let’s continue to walk forward and making strides for change. 🏡 #BuildingBetterTogether #NationalHomelessnessWeek #WeAreSymal #StepsForSafeHomes

I spoke with @95bFM last week about our campaign calling on Government to implement Duty to Assist legislation that would support us to end and prevent homelessness. Basically, if you and your family are experiencing homelessness, there is no clear responsibility on the state to provide you with support. This means, you can turn up to WINZ, ask for help, and there is a real possibility that you and your whānau could be turned away to sleep on the street. Duty to Assist legislation would ensure that there was a clear responsibility placed upon Government agencies to provide you with the support you need, not just to access shelter, but to gain access to permanent accommodation. Homelessness will not be ended by funding homelessness services. The mahi we do is important, but without structural change, will not end homelessness. Homelessness is not an individual issue, it's systemic, and it's structural. If we want to end homelessness we must address the structural realities that allow it to continue. Duty to Assist legislation is one piece of the puzzle that will support us to move past managing homelessness, to ending it once and for all. Homelessness Week aims to build community support and government commitment to end homelessness. Workskil Australia stands with those facing housing insecurity. This year's theme "Homelessness Action NOW!" is a powerful call, and we echo the need for immediate solutions. The housing crisis disproportionately impacts those on low incomes, which includes many of our customers. Finding stable housing is crucial for employment, but it's becoming increasingly difficult. Let's raise awareness, educate ourselves, and demand change. Here's how you can help: • Educate yourself: Visit Homelessness Australia to learn more about the issue. • Advocate for change: Contact your local MP and demand action. • Support local services: Consider volunteering or donating to homeless shelters. Together, we can create a future where everyone has a safe place to call home. To find out more, visit the Homelessness Australia website: https://lnkd.in/g8A5ezt2 You can also click here to learn more about our pilot program Home2Work, which trials a new model to support customers with access to affordable, secure housing. Homelessness isn't always visible. It's the struggle to find warmth on a freezing night, the fear of losing your belongings, the constant feeling of being unseen. But behind each unseen face, there's a story of resilience, of hope, and a longing for a safe place to call home. At Noble Tree Foundation, we see these faces every day. We see their strength, their determination, and their dreams for a brighter future. And we believe that everyone deserves a chance to rebuild their lives, not just find temporary shelter. This winter, let's remember the unseen faces of homelessness. Let's donate, volunteer, and raise awareness. Together, we can build a world where everyone has a place to belong. #homelessnessawareness #winter #humanity

World Homeless Day: A Chance to Make a Difference 🏠✨ On this #WorldHomelessDay, I'm reflecting on how we can better support individuals without stable housing. Homelessness is an issue that affects communities across the globe, including right here in the UK. According to Shelter, over 250,000 people are homeless in England alone. This is a stark reminder that our efforts to combat homelessness are far from over. It's essential to remember that everyone has a role to play. Whether it's volunteering your time, donating to local shelters, or simply raising awareness about the challenges faced by homeless individuals, every action counts. From my own experiences, I've seen how community support can significantly impact lives and help people regain stability. Let's use today as a catalyst for positive change. I encourage you all to engage in conversations, share your thoughts, and take steps towards making a difference. Together, we can contribute to ending homelessness and building a more inclusive society. #HomelessnessAwareness #WorldHomelessDay #CommunitySupport #vetrorecruitment #vetro

Every night, thousands of Australians experience homelessness, but it doesn’t have to be that way. This Thursday, for the third time, I’ll be spending one of the longest and coldest nights of the year at Adelaide Oval, participating in the 2024 Vinnies CEO Sleepout. Witnessing the daily rise in homelessness in the city and parklands during my commute is both confronting and heartbreaking. The housing crisis and increasing cases of domestic violence are exacerbating an already dire situation. Recent statistics indicate that 122,000 Australians (approx. 7500 South Australians) are experiencing homelessness, though the true number is likely much higher. The funds raised by the Vinnies CEO Sleepout provide essential support and services to Australians in need. Together, we can help break the cycle of homelessness for good. Last week, the Government published the latest stats on homelessness. They revealed… 358,370 households sought help after being threatened with homelessness or losing their home, an increase of more than 10% in a year. Of these, over 90% were assessed as homeless (324,990 households). Households living in temporary accommodation hit their highest point since records began, increasing 12.3% since last year. 3,898 people were counted as sleeping rough across England on a single night in autumn 2023, more than double the number in 2010. Closer to home, the number of households that were owed a support duty to relieve or prevent homelessness increased by 30% in Rochdale and 15% in Bury. Today is World Homeless Day. If this post shocked you, here’s how to help: ➡ Share this post to help more people understand the scale of homelessness in England ➡ Donate to Petrus and help us do what we can for homeless people https://ow.ly/oLUw50THMAR #WorldHomelessDay #Homelessness

Do you own your own home? Do you want to help end Homelessness in Australia? Every night 122,000 people in Australia sleep homeless. About 6000 of these people are veterans. This is a tragedy and deeply concerning as a nation. While another 1.5 million live in serious housing stress. Homes for Homes is a simple promise that when a home sells, whenever that is, 0.1% of the sale price will be donated—helping build homes for those in need. The issue is too big for any one person, business or government to solve alone. But together, we have a simple community empowered solution to a seemingly insurmountable problem. It’s a promise we all need to make, a promise to help end homelessness. And with Homes for Homes, we can.
