🚗 Alpine Showcases Hydrogen-Powered Alpenglow Prototype #Alpine #Hydrogen #Decarbonisation #Innovation Alpine Alpine Alpenglow Hy4 has evolved from a simple concept to a racing model with a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine and carbon monocoque developing an output of 340bhp. This evolution demonstrates Alpine's commitment to decarbonising motorsport and exploring innovative solutions. 🏎️ In an active approach to the decarbonisation of motoring, Alpine considers hydrogen internal combustion engine technology to be highly promising. It is recognised that hydrogen will play a key role in the decarbonisation of the next generations of endurance vehicles, and could even make its way into Formula 1. The Alpenglow prototype serves as a technology laboratory on wheels for the development of the hydrogen engines of the future. 💡 Renault Group, to which Alpine belongs, is looking at various ways of using hydrogen to achieve its carbon neutrality goals. The Alpenglow Hy4 is said to mark something of a turning point. Of course there’s the usual line about motorsport influencing road cars - ‘Alpine firmly believes in the role of motorsport as an accelerator for the development of future mobility technologies’ is the soundbite this time - but also a declaration of support for hydrogen from Renault. A joint venture with Plug called HYVIA is promising hydrogen charging stations (with liquid hydrogen being explored also), fleet financing and maintenance for a hydrogen fuel cell commercial vehicle will be in place, there’s going to be a hybrid using a hydrogen range extender, and there are engines in development specifically designed to be powered by hydrogen. They will be for ‘high-powered extra-urban commercial use and specific sportier purposes.’

🚀 Exciting news from the forefront of innovation! The Mission H24 project (a collaboration between H24Project and Automobile Club de l'Ouest) unveiled their latest prototype, the H24EVO, set to revolutionize racing with hydrogen technology. 🔥 H24's Co-Presidents, Pierre Fillon and Jean-Michel Bouresche, along with the project's Technical Director, Bassel ASLAN, and two of the three dedicated test drivers, Stephane Richelmi and Adrien Tambay, attended the presentation. Partners like TotalEnergies, Symbio, Michelin, OPmobility, Dietsmann, and Richard Mille, have joined forces to drive this innovation forward. 🚘🌟 According to Pierre Fillon, Co-President of H24, "This prototype represents a huge opportunity, it will be the first hydrogen homologated car running in the history of motorsport. We are working to achieve this target." Featuring a cutting-edge 300 kW Symbio multi-stack fuel cell into the H24EVO prototype, Mission H24 aims to showcase the performance and potential of hydrogen fuel cell technology in racing environments. The new car design incorporates a tub from ADESS AG, which houses two 700 bar hydrogen tanks that store 7.8 kg of H2 (down from three tanks in the H24), a 400 kw lithium battery and an 872 horsepower electric motor. The H24EVO marks a significant leap forward in the Mission H24 program. Bassel Aslan, the project's Technical Director, emphasized, "We are aiming for a pace similar to the fastest GT3 cars, stint lengths of 30 minutes and a two-minute pit stop for refuelling, but this is just the beginning." This technology isn't just about speed; it's about shaping the future of racing and transportation. With the FIA paving the way for hydrogen technology in motorsport, the H24EVO remains at the forefront of this exciting development. We set a speed record of 290.8 km at Le Mans. When it comes to on-the-road applications of Fuel Cells, we observe that racing cars and heavy goods vehicles share the same challenges: they require a lightweight, high-performance Fuel Cell. At this year's Dakar Rally, our HySE-X1 prototype, equipped with an innovative hydrogen engine, not only reached the finish line, but also achieved an outstanding fourth place in the prestigious Dakar Future Mission 1000 event. For us as a team, this was not only a confirmation of the reliability of our technology, but also a valuable lesson that raises questions about the future of sustainable motoring. Every kilometre of the Dakar Rally is a test of endurance not only for the machine, but also for the people behind it. We tested the HySE-X1 in extreme conditions, from low temperatures to extreme heat, from sea level to altitudes of 1,200 metres. These experiences have given us a deep understanding and adaptation of the technology, which is key to the commercialisation of internal combustion hydrogen engines for smaller vehicles. Innovation does not happen in a vacuum. Collaborating with Kawasaki, Suzuki, Honda and Yamaha as part of the HySE consortium is proof that working together towards the goal of developing climate-neutral transport technologies can yield concrete and measurable results. We found this out by driving the HySE-X1 through the challenging terrain of the Dakar, which further motivates our team to continue working and innovating. This Dakar Rally was more than just a race for Toyota. It was a vision of the future of motoring, where sustainability meets technological boldness.
