🚀 Where in the world is Bobby Bermudez? Exciting times for Symposit! Our CEO, Bobby Bermudez, recently traveled to the Mike Monroney Aeronautical Center in Oklahoma City, OK, for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Accelerated and Simplified Tasks (eFAST) Small & Disadvantaged Business (SDB) Industry Day on July 18th, 2024. This event was an incredible opportunity for contractors like us to dive deep into FAA procurement opportunities and network with key FAA officials and other SDBs in the industry. Bobby had the chance to meet with the Flight Standards group and the Civil Aviation Medical Institute (CAMI), learning more about their vital roles within the FAA. We're thrilled about the connections made and the knowledge gained from this experience. Looking forward to seeing how these relationships will help us soar to new heights! ✈️ #FAA #eFAST #SDB #Networking #Opportunities

The panel will delve into questions such as: - Where should we focus to achieve the greatest return on investment? - Should the emphasis be on increased regulatory oversight, enhanced training for pilots and ANSPs, or technological solutions? We have been so efficient in excluding trust from our own Health system that we now have an environment where “arse covering” is paramount to a successful career. The outcome might appear to be “best practice” while ignoring the fact that it forces a culture of concordance to algorithms that disempower clinicians. Management practices have become overly complex and expensive. While flow pathways ignore geographical, and cultural variation, as well as creating clusters of inaccessible expertise. Trust is a core ingredient of critical thinking, it underpins clinical courage and enables collaborative problem solving. Giving people the opportunity to innovate or solve problems in contextually relevant ways requires trust from on high. Aviation has always led in human factors and safety, it time to listen and learn from this work. Designing safety systems with the humans at its centre makes a great sense. It is past time to place the mouse at the centre of the Swiss cheese 🧀 and trust it to plug those holes 🕳️ in a mousy way. 🐭 No cheese 🫕 was consumed in writing ✍️ this post 🐁
This time last week I had the privilege of joining 300+ exceptional people at the European Association of Aviation Psychologists conference in Athens. They invited me to join them as one of their keynote speakers to build on the presentation that I made with my colleagues from CAA NZ and FAA, Tim Sprott and Susan Northrup at the IPAAC meeting in Cologne last year. What we are talking about is so simple, but so very complicated. We are talking about trust. We need to (re)learn how to trust. We have built trust out of our aviation medical certification philosophy, and we need to try and figure out how to build it back in. Because trusted systems are effective systems, which means they are safer systems. Any “compromise” on safety that happens when we choose to trust our pilots, controllers and medical examiners is repaid in spades through the overall benefit to the safety of a system where people are unafraid to seek help and to be well. Our industry really does punch above its weight, making a significant contribution to global economies that is not always acknowledged or even understood. Industry stakeholders understand that well, and we are using our platforms to make others aware. It was great to see the findings of the Canadian Business Aviation Association (CBAA) Business Aviation Association annual report for 2023 that state BizAv operators and manufacturers generated a combined $11.7 billion in direct economic output as well as supporting 25,600 direct jobs. We need to build on this momentum and show both the public and governments that the service we provide is not only crucial to support business functions but also a huge contributor to the economy in general. #bizav #CBAA #privateaviation
We are pleased to share CBAA’s 2023 Annual Report. We invite you to catch up on our accomplishments and gain insights into the impactful projects that have unfolded throughout the year. Your support and partnership have played a crucial role in our endeavors, and we are truly grateful for your commitment to advancing the aviation industry. #bizav #businessaviation #CBAA #annualreport #aviation
