Airports Offline? Let's Understand Why! As an IT company, it’s challenging to guarantee flawless operation when so much depends on third-party libraries and their ability to keep the code updated and functional. On July 19th, 2024, we witnessed a significant outage involving CrowdStrike, a third-party library for Microsoft. If your company uses Linux or macOS, don't get too comfortable—they follow the same modus operandi. But back to our main question: Why did this happen to airports? Those working in airports know that aviation relies on one of the oldest technologies for message queuing, crucial for communication between airport handling companies and airlines. Some airlines are transitioning away from this system, but it comes at a cost for handling companies, leading to manual processes and data inconsistencies across airports. Such IT solutions can compromise the sector, potentially keeping airports offline for extended periods, causing huge delays and damaging reputations for airlines and handling companies. In this particular outage, the issue was linked to automation processes aimed at cost reduction, which compromised access to their operational systems. Changing to innovative solutions doesn’t necessarily mean increasing costs or risks, but rather preventing gaps for media breaches and staying one step ahead. That's the main focus of syncroPro products. With syncroPro, your updates don't simply happen uncontrolled. You can test all your new definitions, settings, and customized adjustments in your "staging environment." It's time to make changes in the right direction.
