Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud recently highlighted the role of the Supreme Court in shaping the landscape of Federalism in India and upholding the balance of Centre- State relations. The CJI was speaking at Loksatta Lecture Series on the topic of Understanding Federalism and Its Potential. The CJI emphasized that the Indian Constitution is very detailed about how power is shared between the central and state governments. This is different from the United States Constitution. When deciding cases about federal power limits, the Indian Supreme Court turns to past decisions and how the Constitution is interpreted, rather than political factors. #chiefjusticeofindia #gst #gstupdates #gstindia #gstcompliance #gstupdate #gstreturn #corporatelaw #nclat #indirecttax #indirecttaxation #supremecourt #supremecourtofindia

Information is power. Article 19(1)(a) of the Constitution of India states that every citizen in India has a right to free speech and expression. The RTI act 2005 empowers citizens of India to question the government, which is the essence of a democracy. It provides a practical framework that allows the citizens to access the information under the control of public authorities. . . . #namasteinformed #righttoinformation #righttoinformationact2005 #fundamentalrights #indianconstitution

Imposition of article 356 in the state of West Bengal (India) is absolutely necessary Those who are wondering whats article 356 In India, President's rule (or Governor’s rule) is the suspension of state government and imposition of direct Union government rule in a state. Under Article 356 of the Constitution of India, if a state government is unable to function according to Constitutional provisions, the Union government can take direct control of the state machinery.

My first post with the THE GEOSTRATA Do like & share.
A Constitution bench of the Supreme Court unanimously struck down the electoral bonds scheme on 15th February terming it “unconstitutional” and violative of the Right to Information under Article 19 (1) (a) of the Constitution, with the CJI noting that “information about the funding of political parties is essential for the effective exercise of the choice of voting.” It barred the State Bank of India (SBI) - the issuing authority - from issuing new bearer bonds. Authored by Yash Chandan for the Geostrata. #geostrata #india #supremecourt #electoralbonds #bjp #congress
