Short educational video clip by NREL (US Department of Energy) on the effects of handling silicon solar cells = micro cracks reducing the efficiency. Silicon solar cells are extremely brittle even when encapsuled. From our experience, a majority of silicon solar cells have micro cracks even before they are installed. This is a major problem in our industry that needs to be adressed. Of course, thin film solar cells do not have any issues with micro cracks. They are tough enough even to walk on without risking damages. #solarcells #microcracks #solarenergy #solarpanels #solarpower
