Today we celebrate International Women’s day 🌺 This year's theme is about inspiring inclusion. We had a team lunch and a really honest discussion about the times we have and have not felt included in the workplace; what makes us feel included and how we can make a stronger team. As a company with a female director who currently has a team of mostly female employees, we celebrate the strides that have been made to make all of this possible and support all gender inclusion moving forward to a brighter future. @internationalwomensday_global #internationalwomensday #InspireInclusion #IWD2024

Gender equality discussions often engage mainly #women, but actually men have a crucial role to play. This is why last week we had at #nike discussion about how to be an ally to the female in male dominant world. #Allyship is a concept and practice in which individuals, particularly those in privileged or majority groups, support and advocate for marginalized or underrepresented groups in their pursuit of equality, justice, and inclusion. It reminds me one of my favorite quote from MLK: “In the end, we will not remember the words of our enemies, but the silence of our friends.” Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Thanks for great discussion: Bartłomiej Kuczyński, Michał Stachowski, Maciej Iwanowski, Jakub Onoszko, Aleksandra Florczak, Marek Spichalski, Arek Chyliński (he/him/his), Oleksandr Presich, Greg Reglinski, Agnieszka (Aga) Kulczyńska, Joanna Koniszewska, Szymon Scharmach I hope that it is great start for all of us 😊 picture from: https://lnkd.in/dZthCdN2 more materials: - Women in Tech: the importance of men as allies: https://lnkd.in/d9XRkmji - How to Be an Ally to Women in the Workplace: https://lnkd.in/dV-_dkYZ - What is Allyship? ✈ Nudging gender equality in aviation We're looking for 1 or 2 more aviation organisations to partner with us in nudging culture. This trial is FREE to participate in to shift gender bias for women in your workplace. 👩✈️ What’s the trial? Implementing several interventions to support women and men to reduce bias including attitudes, behaviours such as sexist comments, standing up for each other, and more. You get interventions tailored to you and a measurable result that positively impacts your organisation, as well as resources that you can use for future initiatives. There are two options for your level of involvement: 1️⃣ Minimal – simple set-up and implementation of ready-to-go interventions. 2️⃣ Tailored – we design interventions specifically for your organisation. The trial is running in July-August, so get in touch soon if you’re interested. Get in touch with kerstin.Oberprieler@thinkplace.com.au for more info. Dr Kerstin Oberprieler #WomeninAviation

Investing in women makes sense. The entire society would benefit from it. Did you know? 1. Nearly 60 per cent of women’s employment globally is in the informal economy, and in low-income countries it is more than 90 per cent 2. The world could see a 20 per cent increase in GDP by closing gender gaps in employment. Furthermore, when women entrepreneurs are successful, they can create jobs and drive innovation. 3. The monetary value of women’s unpaid care work globally is at least USD 10.8 trillion annually, three times the size of the world’s tech industry. 4. Violence at home or in the workplace is a violation of women's rights and impedes their economic participation. The global cost of violence against women is estimated to be at least USD 1.5 trillion or 2% of global GDP. 5. It is estimated that micro, small, and medium-sized businesses owned by women globally are underfunded by USD 1.7 trillion. Closing this credit gap would result in a 12% increase in annual incomes on average by 2030 Join us for this enriching panel discussion, where we discuss how we can all make a difference 315Work Avenue
Mark your calendars for 15th of March and be a part of Womenia 2024, where we will delve into “Economic Support for Gender Equality”. This crucial discussion will explore how economic backing plays a pivotal role in diminishing gender gaps. Among our esteemed panelists is Soumya Rao the pioneering force behind Thrive Cafe. Her venture stands at the forefront of mental health technology innovation, a testament to her two-decade-long journey in Corporate Consumer Marketing & Innovation, culminating in the establishment of Thrive Cafe in October 2020 Don’t miss the chance to be part of this enlightening experience at Womenia 2024! . . #womenia2024 #315workavenue #genderequality #economicempowerment #empoweringwomen

📅 International Women’s Day is less than two months away! If you’re looking for something interactive and memorable to engage all employees, there are two ways Squash can help: 1. Our signature workshop ‘Recognise and Respond to Gender Bias.’ An interactive, drama-based workshop that spotlights some of the ways gender bias shows up in the workplace. We developed the scenarios in this workshop after speaking with over a hundred working women to hear about the everyday challenges they face. The workshop equips participants with practical actions to respond to bias - so it’s ideal for activating allyship and giving folks a starting point for advocacy. 2. A bespoke workshop that is tailored to your company culture, focused on any specific problems or opportunity areas for driving gender equality. We work with you to identify the scenarios that will be brought to life in a script and performed by professional actors (in-person or filmed in advance). This would then form the basis for the workshop. We provide participants with the tools and language to respond to these scenarios and advocate for gender equality. In both workshops, participants see what #allyship looks like and leave with practical actions they can implement to promote gender inclusion. Workshops can be 60 / 90 / 120 minutes and led online or in-person. Find out more about our drama-based approach on the link in the comments. Get in touch if you’d like to discuss an event for International Women's Day or Women’s History Month on rachel@wearesquash.com. #genderequality #genderequity #internationalwomensday #womenshistorymonth #womensupportingwomen #genderbias #dramabasedtraining #activelearning

Dr. Maneesh Paul S, CEO of Microvioma, recently delivered an insightful talk at the International Women’s Day Roundtable organised by Idobro. His perspective on gender equality is both thought-provoking and refreshing. Dr Paul challenges conventional notions of gender equality, proposing a nuanced concept of gender uniqueness that values individual distinctiveness over-generalized equality. He distinguishes between sex, the biological categorization based on chromosomes, and gender, a societal construct involving roles and behaviors typically associated with being male or female. In the workplace, Dr. Paul criticizes the simplification of gender issues to mere sexual differences, advocating instead for a recognition of each person's unique traits and contributions. His philosophy promotes a broader respect that encompasses all individuals, advocating for a respect-based approach rather than adhering strictly to the labels of equality. This perspective suggests that true equality involves respecting and valuing everyone's distinctiveness, transcending traditional labels and fostering a more inclusive environment. 📣 Join the Conversation: If you're passionate about contributing to this dialogue, share your ideas!
