𝗔 𝗛𝘂𝗴𝗲 𝗧𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗸 𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗧𝗼 𝗢𝘂𝗿 𝗔𝗺𝗮𝘇𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝘀! Last week, Syska Hennessy hosted a hybrid event that brought together our summer interns from across the firm to create "Kits for Play" in collaboration with the wonderful organization, Project Sunshine. Project Sunshine's activity kits deliver safe and creative play directly to children, sparking joy and providing therapeutic value to their physical and emotional healing process. Our volunteers prepared individualized kits, filled with developmentally specific activities for pediatric patients in hospitals. Designed by child life specialists, these Kits for Play not only alleviate boredom but also spark the imagination and foster a sense of connectedness. During this incredible session, our team prepared 1,000 sensory kits! Thank you to everyone involved for making a difference and bringing smiles to so many children. #ProjectSunshine #CommunityEngagement #InternshipExperience #MakingADifference

✨✨Last year, I had the fantastic opportunity to complete my internship with the Head Start program in Richmond, California. During my time in the classroom, I had the pleasure of meeting incredible children and teachers. My lessons were centered around social-emotional development. I chose this focus because, as a preschool teacher, I believe that learning to express, communicate, and advocate for oneself is crucial for all ages, particularly for low-income black and brown families. Also when we have the tools to help ourselves we can better help those around us. Despite the prevailing belief among educators that children are egocentric and lack the ability to understand others' emotions, I aimed to challenge this notion. I began by investigating whether children could grasp their own emotions and express them through words, facial expressions, and actions. Through weeks of exploration and inquiry, including asking children about their actions and the emotions behind them, we progressed to examining their friends' emotions. We practiced asking questions such as "How are you feeling today?" "What made you feel this way?" and "How can I help you feel better?" We also encouraged children to problem solve amongst each other by using the language used above✨ Observational findings: Social-emotional development We noticed that following engagement in social-emotional activities and discussions, children began using phrases like "How are you feeling?" "I need space," or "Can we play together?" Our observations revealed a growing awareness of others as children started advocating for fairness, such as saying, "Hey, it's not fair to knock down people's towers." Through ongoing observation and exploration of social-emotional development with our children, we aim to challenge the assumption that children are inherently selfish and incapable of understanding others' feelings.

My Internship Experience at Gully Classes Foundation: A Lesson of Awareness and Responsibilities. Introduction: This summer, I had the incredible opportunity to intern with Gully Classes Foundation, an organization dedicated to addressing social issues and raising awareness in underserved communities. Conducted entirely online, this internship allowed me to engage in meaningful projects focused on identifying and solving pressing problems. Through research, outreach, and collaborative initiatives, I gained invaluable experience in developing campaigns and initiatives aimed at empowering individuals and promoting social change. First Day: Creative Management On the first day of my internship with Gully Classes Foundation, we were tasked with a creative project to design posters highlighting important worldwide observances. I chose to create a poster for World Mental Health Day, aiming to raise awareness about the importance of mental health. My poster emphasized the significance of mental well-being, provided key statistics, and offered resources for support. This activity not only allowed me to showcase my design skills but also deepened my understanding of mental health issues globally. Second Day: Social Media Advocacy On the second day of my internship with Gully Classes Foundation, we embarked on social media advocacy by snapping photos of pertinent social issues and sharing them online to capture the attention of authorities. These images depicted the stark realities faced by marginalized communities, such as overcrowded living conditions and inadequate infrastructure. Through this hands-on approach, we aimed to catalyze action from policymakers and organizations. This experience underscored the power of visual storytelling in driving meaningful change and reaffirmed my commitment to advocating for social justice through digital platforms. Third Day: Local Impact On the third day of my internship with Gully Classes Foundation, we focused on addressing social issues within our hometown. From lack of access to basic amenities to issues of unemployment and poverty, we sought to understand the root causes and brainstorm solutions. This experience highlighted the importance of grassroots activism in tackling social issues at the local level and reinforced our commitment to making a meaningful impact in our own backyard. Fourth Day: Deepening The Discussion On the fourth day of my internship with Gully Classes Foundation, we continued our deep dive into the social issues affecting our hometown. Building on the insights gathered on the previous day, we engaged in further discussions and analysis to deepen our understanding of the root causes and potential solutions. We explored innovative approaches to address these challenges. Conlcusion: In conclusion, my internship experience with Gully Classes Foundation was both enlightening and empowering. #GullyClassesFoundation

Completed the first week of my internship with a wealth of new insights on learning, community, and their impact. It's been an enriching experience so far! 💗 Through the sessions, I've learned that the power of community is undeniable. Community forms the backbone of society, enriching lives through connection, support, and shared experiences. It fosters a sense of belonging, and relationships that transcend individuality, and promotes collective well-being. They serve as hubs for learning, resilience, and mutual aid, creating spaces where empathy and understanding thrive. By nurturing communities, we create environments where everyone can contribute, grow, and flourish together, forging paths toward a more inclusive and sustainable future. Embracing the power of community is key to building resilient societies that celebrate diversity, promote equity, and ensure prosperity for all. 🌻 I've come to realize that the connections we share are the lifeblood of a vibrant community. They weave individuals and groups together through shared experiences, values, and interests, fostering a sense of empathy, support, and belonging. These connections form a powerful web that empowers us to embrace diverse perspectives, collaborate, and overcome challenges together. They create a platform for open communication, mutual aid, and the recognition of every individual's importance in shaping our community. By nurturing and expanding these connections, we can harness our collective strength to create an inclusive and supportive environment where each person can flourish and make valuable contributions to the greater good. We also learned about Offline and online communities. Offline communities build personal connections through face-to-face interaction, while online communities connect globally through digital platforms and shared interests. While both online and offline communities play important roles in facilitating personal growth and societal development, I personally find online communities to be more impactful. I believe that online communities have the power to transcend geographical barriers and bring together diverse perspectives on a global level, and I truly value that aspect. These communities foster inclusivity, accessibility, and the opportunity for individuals to engage with niche groups that align closely with their interests and identities. In addition, online platforms swiftly disseminate information, thereby nurturing learning and awareness on a wide range of topics. Online communities play a crucial role in modern society, promoting diversity, amplifying voices, and empowering individuals to meaningfully contribute to global causes and initiatives. In conclusion, communities of any kind play a crucial role in nurturing human connections, building solidarity, and working towards shared objectives. They help empower voices, combine resources, and encourage cooperation in pursuit of common goals. 🤝 💜

Interned at South Central Therapies, alumni of South Sevier High School 2024, student at Snow College.
My expierences at my internship this month was amazing once again. One thing that I learned is how the therapist wraps a patients hand while the patient is holding a rope that they pull if a patients hand is weaker than their other hand. Another thing that I learned is how the therapist deals with vertigo patients when they can’t walk very well, which is that they do different twists and turns on the bed slowly with their whole body and their head. Another thing that I learned is that there is a technique to build endurance, which is called the tongue method, the way that you do this method is that you sit up and in 30 seconds you see how much you sat up in those 30 seconds. One last thing that I learned is that there can be something that can be inserting into people that already do the electrical stimulation, so that way when you come to the therapy office they don’t have to do stem, and it’s also so that a certain part of the body can heal more properly than if you were to do it in the therapy office.
