On World Cancer Day, we are all reminded of the bravery of our most critical patients and how crucial it is to provide the best healthcare possible for patients everywhere. At Sysmex, we are dedicated to developing innovative analyzers to help clinical labs provide accurate results regardless of the diagnosis. White Precursor Cell (WPC) testing on the XN-20™ hematology module offers automated, next-level analysis of white blood cells, giving highly skilled laboratory scientists sensitive and specific flagging for the crucial identification of abnormal cells. Efficiency can be gained when WPC testing is reflexed using the XN analyzer’s onboard rules or Caresphere™ Workflow Solution (WS). For more information on how Sysmex can help your laboratory help provide diagnostic testing for critical patients, contact your Sysmex Sales Representative or visit https://ow.ly/nYb450QxtNh. *XN analyzers are FDA-cleared to classify and count blood cells. #WorldCancerDay #Sysmex #Hematology #TogetherForABetterHealthcareJourney

🌟 Fun Fact Friday 🌟 Did you know that Oxygen-18 in water plays a critical role in the production of ¹⁸F-FDG, the most widely used radiopharmaceutical in PET scans? This innovative tracer is vital for detecting cancer, as it mimics glucose and is absorbed by cells with high metabolic activity, such as tumors. When Oxygen-18 is bombarded with protons in a cyclotron, it transforms into Fluorine-18, which is then incorporated into ¹⁸F-FDG. This process allows healthcare professionals to visualize and evaluate metabolic activity throughout the body, enabling early diagnosis and effective monitoring of various cancers. By highlighting areas of increased metabolic activity, ¹⁸F-FDG provides essential insights into patient health and supports targeted treatment strategies. It’s fascinating how a simple isotope can make such a significant impact in modern medicine! 🩺💡 #InterskalaMedikaSolusindo #NuclearMedicine #FunFactFriday #Radiopharmaceuticals #CancerDetection #InnovationInHealthcare

Still wondering about #theranostics and the impact of this technology for patients? Theranostics, a groundbreaking fusion of "therapy" and "diagnostics," represents a revolutionary approach to personalized medicine. The combination of using one radiopharmaceutical to identify (diagnose) and a second radiopharmaceutical to deliver therapy to treat disease has provided a unique opportunity to craft highly-specific and targeted therapies with high efficacy and great clinical impact for patients. 👉 Learn more about theranostics: #nuclearmedicine #radiopharmaceuticals #iqmedicalservices

#Diagnostic_Industry_101 I'm an 8-month newcomer to the diagnostics industry, and I want to share some of the observations and insights I've gained so far. One of the interesting things I’ve discovered since entering the diagnostics industry is how the market is divided into 'in vitro' and 'in vivo' diagnostics. 'In vitro' diagnostics involve samples taken outside the body—like blood, urine, and even poo!😅 Fun fact: the main products at my current company are rapid kits for colon cancer screening that use feces(=poo) samples. On the flip side, in vivo diagnostics involve looking directly inside the body, without taking anything out. Think X-rays, MRIs, and other imaging tests. It appears that these two markets have very different characteristics. I don’t see many companies focusing on both at the same time. And even if they do, the departments handling them are usually kept completely separate. It makes sense when you think about it: In vivo diagnostics need to be done where the patient is, and the equipment is often large and expensive—like MRI machines that hospitals typically lease rather than buy. In contrast, in vitro diagnostics are more flexible. Once a sample is taken, it doesn’t matter where the patient is at the time of testing. Plus, You can even run tests on multiple samples simultaneously. The analyzer can range from large machines to simple kits that don’t need any analyzer, like COVID-19 test kits. GE Healthcare and Siemens are prime examples of companies focused on in vivo diagnostics, while Roche, Abbott, and Thermo Fisher are well-known for their work in in vitro diagnostics. (Of course, this doesn't mean they don't work in other areas—it's just where their main focus lies!) If I’ve got anything wrong, please feel free to let me know!

Yesterday we explained what Theranostics is, today we’re sharing fun facts. We narrowed our list to 4, but there are so many more. 1️⃣ Use of Theranostics began 80 years ago with Dr. Saul Hertz. 2️⃣ The debate over using Theranostics or Theragnostics rages on. Most leave out the “g”. 3️⃣ The concept of Theranostics is used to find and detect more than just cancer (Alzheimer’s Disease, Hyperthyroidism, Cardiac Disease, Parkinson’s). 4️⃣ Right now, 7 radiopharmaceutical treatments are FDA approved, but at least 80 radiopharmaceutical drugs are in development. Now want to hear from you! Add your fun Theranostics facts to the comments and let’s keep the conversation going. #Theranostics #WorldTheranosticsDay

I’m excited to share our latest article about analyzing aberrant #methylation pattern for circulating cell-free tumor DNA #ctDNA detection in #melanoma, that was just published in Clinical Chemistry, the leading journal of laboratory medicine and analytical chemistry: https://lnkd.in/eqJN56qz We prospectively assessed circulating cell-free SHOX2 DNA methylation levels and their dynamic changes in blood plasma of anti-PD-1 treated melanoma patients. Negativity of SHOX2 #ccfDNA methylation only 4 weeks after treatment initiation was strongly associated with improved survival.
