Refurbishment, conversion, and extension of the apartment building on Hohlstrasse, Zurich, marks a significant transformation in the Altstetten district. 🌆 A transformation we’re glad to be a part of! 🛠️ Originally constructed in the 1950s, the building required a comprehensive renovation to meet the demands of modern residents both aesthetically and functionally. 🏗️ Sach Architekten AG took on the challenge of revitalizing the structure and reimagining its identity through thoughtful design and strategic enhancements. The project involved adding a new storey made of prefabricated wooden elements, integrating an elevator, and redesigning existing apartments for improved energy efficiency and comfort. 🏡 Also, as part of the renovation, our CELLON® balcony claddings in the design 40200 were incorporated into the building's exterior. The gold hue of the panels adds a touch of elegance and aligns with the architectural vision while providing durability and aesthetic appeal. ✨ With attention to detail, the architects preserved the building's original character while introducing modern elements. Can you believe this used to be a 107-year-old bottling facility? We love breathing new life into old buildings, and our Warrant Building project is a great example. The building's industrial soul was kept alive with exposed brick walls and concrete pillars - because why hide that century-old character? But we've given it a modern twist. The sleek glass partitions and doors bring in ample light, while the blue-gray carpet adds a touch of contemporary cool. The mid-century modern furniture adds a perfect blend of old and new. The pendant light is a nod to the facility's past, reimagined for the future. This corner commercial building in the MIDC industrial area was designed to stand out and become a landmark for the entire zone. The aim was to create a focal point especially for pedestrian traffic. We incorporated Vastu principles, using different forms to create a sense of curiosity. The brahmastan, a concept from ancient Indian architectural tradition known as Vastu Shastra, refers to the central, sacred space of a structure. It’s considered the heart of the building, promoting harmony and balance, much like a courtyard in traditional Western architecture. In this design, it serves as the focal point, bringing a sense of openness and energy flow to the entire building. The building is intentionally taller and heavier on the southwest side, while the north side is open, featuring a podium and swimming pool for a welcoming view. Fins were added on the southern side to block direct sunlight from the offices. Each room also has a balcony that provides shade while adding a stylish touch. The lower two floors are for shops, with offices, recreational spaces, service apartments, and a rooftop restaurant above. The facade uses clay tiles to reduce heat absorption, combining form with function. Our latest project features two buildings: a high-rise and a low-rise. The low-rise building, pictured here, creates a smooth transition between the high-rise and the single-family homes beyond our project area. This design effectively integrates different urban scales. The building is clad in luxurious limestone panels and topped with a metal mansard roof.
